What I Heard on the News- 4

Finger prints were lifted from the gun. There was a picture of the man, and he was all over the evening news.
The man was brought in from his home. He had been eating dinner with his family. Seth used all of his strength to restrain himself from killing the man. He was just as Angels had described. About 6'3, white, greying-black hair...short cut. Grey beard, happy blue eyes....A coward. This had reduced Cody Mason to a unmoving heap in the hotel lobby. Luckily Seth's wife had opted to watch the Masons' kids for the night, even though she desperately wanted to see Kay. The man couldn't even give a cogent explanation for his back eye, but oh had he tried.
Agent Michaels walked into the makeshift interrogation room in the hospital, there was no way he was going far from his close friend...his confidante, who lie dying a few rooms above his head. He circled the table and walked behind the grey haired-man.
"Your name is Robert Flinton, correct?"
      "Yes."
      "Do you know he name?"
      "Excuse me?"
Michaels continued to pace around the room, following Flinton's every move.
"The woman whose life you ruined...about ten hours ago...surly you remember. Pretty little red-head...yea high..." Michaels leveled his right hand at his chin imitating his partner's height. "Spark anything in your memory Mr. Flinton?"
      "Oh, that riot thing?"
Michaels promised himself he wouldn't show anger, but it was getting increasingly difficult.
He hit the table with his fist.
"I want my lawyer. I'm not saying a thing until he comes."
"Well, then I'll just tell you a few things. He name is Kathryn. Kay is a living breathing person, with feelings not a rag doll. She has two beautiful children, I'm their God Father. I've know her children since before they were born. Kay is a sweet woman, and what did you do? You just had to go and do that didn't you Mr. *Flinton*."
                                                 Stay calm....I can't!
"What exactly did I do wrong agent Michaels?"
"You know right and well you bastard! She hasn't even woken yet. Instead of beating her you just had to go two steps further didn't you? Do you even remember what you did? Do you have any idea how many lives you have altered, or ruined? The doctors took two hours to pull all of the glass from her back alone. You see it takes a long time when the glass is cauterized by second and third degree burns. Oh wait...that was after we had to stop he from drowning in her own blood...thank God when you slit her throat you were at least in a hurry...she didn't bleed to death...oh and the mace stunt...I would have never thought of that. Mace down the throat...I'll have to use that sometime...maybe if I ever have the chance...wait...never mind. Even the most inhumane person wouldn't euthanize a dog like that. If you had any decency, as a human being, or the monster you are; if you had any feeling...My God the least you could have done was knock her out before you raped her..."

Seth was turning beet red with anger.
"You son of a bitch, you just don't have an ounce of compassion in you do ya?"
Seth stood over Flinton, whose face had remained neutral. Seth stormed out of the room and slamed the door behind him.

*I should have been there. If we would have been together, if only we would have stayed together...if only I'd been watching her back, all she was doing was watching mine. I didn't lay a hand on her, but I had just as much to do with it as that monster. I wish I just had a second chance. Then I'd know he would be coming in on her blind side. I could have protected Her!*
