The Poet's Pot, a regular column by Gillian Stokes, is a fascinating look into one of the most inspiring genres of writing - as Ms. Stokes puts it, it is a bubbling cauldron of poetry bits 'n pieces. Gillian Stokes is a talented writer and poet on the verge of stretching her writing wings to achieve literary greatness. Those who know her have confidence in her poetic and writing skills. She has loved poetry for as long as she can remember. One of her fondest memories of one of her late brothers, is the way the two of them used to quote lines from classic poems. Books of poetry always have pride of place on her bedside table and she often finds comfort and reassurance in the words of the great poets. Although Gillian is a born writer, it is only recently that she has acknowledged her talent. She finds it immensely satisfying to pen her thoughts, feelings and aspirations onto paper or a computer word processing program. She feels that writing heals, is therapeutic and is a magical, almost spiritual, experience. She is part of a close-knit family who encourage her writing and are thrilled to see Gillian coming into her own. Her enthuasiasm is a joy to behold, but more importantly, the quality of the poetry and articles she has written is both astounding and prolific. Her poems are varied - some are ethereal, others transport you to the places (or people) she writes about and the reader can see, smell, feel and experience for themselves the written words. S.A.
