MacMillan is an educational publishing house and only accept manuscripts suitable for learners in the Southern African region for grades R through to 12.
They do not publish one-poet poetry anthologies, but might consider a group submission. Children’s stories are accepted as long as they are suitable for learners to read themselves.
If you have a manuscript that fits their list, you can submit it to them in electronic format (preferably Microsoft Word), but please remember to include a covering letter. Alternatively, you can either post or hand-deliver a hard copy of your manuscript to the addresses provided on this page. Please note that hardcopy submissions need to be typed in 1 ½ spacing on one side of the page only. If you are intending to submit a hard copy of your work, remember NOT to send your original manuscript as Macmillan cannot guarantee that you will receive your manuscript back intact - always send a copy of your manuscript.
Potential authors need to be aware that the review process is a slow one that is impacted on by submissions to education departments and can take up to three months.
