If the Wind Changes...
The wind whipped more snow against the tiny log cabin.
"She's not breathing!" The woman held the tiny baby close
to her breast in panic. "Do something!"
"Damn it, Gretchen, I'm a starship designer, not a doctor!"
"Get her a stimulant - anything!"
"Hang on." Janeway picked up an empty baby bottle, looked
round, saw the coffee he'd made two hours ago.
"Here. Try this."
"Thank god! She's drinking."
"She looks happier. There, there, Kathryn. If the wind changes,
you'll stay like that."
They both felt the change, as the wind came round into the
south and the snow stopped falling.
