The Examination for Lieutenant - year 5c.



Tom was crouched over the holodeck controls as Harry entered the 
control room of Captain Proton's rocket ship.

"Did you find the problem, Tom?"

"Yeah, Harry." Tom looked round. "Someone changed the code. Just one 
word, but the program locks up solid the moment the computer tries to 
display it."

Harry tried to look innocent. "Any idea who changed the code?"

"No, they covered their tracks too well."

Harry tried not to sound relieved. "And what was the change?"

"It was trying to call Buster Kincaid 'Lieutenant'," replied Tom. "For 
some reason, it just can't bring itself to do it."
