Chakotay looked up and smiled. "Congratulations, Ensign."

Harry felt a great wave of elation pass over him. "I passed?"

"With flying colours. There's only the matter of the Doctor's 
certificate, and then you'll be wearing another pip."

"Great! Uh, Doctor's certificate?"

"It's an old nautical tradition," explained Chakotay. "The Doctor 
needs to certify that you're sound in mind, healthy in body and so 
on."

"Oh. Fine."

"Oh, and one other thing," added Chakotay. "That you've been free from 
venereal disease for the past year."

The door had almost closed before he had time to say, "Better luck 
next year, Ensign."
