Popular Music..




Yes, I actually like some popular music. How shocking... But I have an excuse.. I don't listen to the radio or watch MTV anymore so basically these are longtime favorites from my earlier years or others that I heard once or twice and simply had to get their album and just fell in love.. Anyway, here they are..




The Cranberries


This is pretty much my all time favorite group. This band comes from Ireland. The style of the band always changes, sometimes hard, sometimes soft, always strong in emotions. The lead singer is Dolores O'Riordan. I think what I like most is her accent. Most people I know either love it or hate it.

Enigma


Enigma isn't quite a band. Its just one guy that organizes it and makes what he wants to hear happen. His wife, Sandra, does most of the vocals, though sometimeshe gets other people and sometimes he sings himself. Their style is more on the darker side though it varies. The songs sometimes consist of different types of chants to songs in english and french. They have 3 amazingly cool albums at the moment. The newest one is really.. hard to describe.. its.. an Enigma! :) Anyway, they just keep getting better and better.

The Cranes


The Cranes are a rather odd group. Its made up of a brother and sister and some other people. The sister does all the vocals. What probably stands out the most about them is her eerie child-like voice. The music ranges from slow and mysterious to rather upbeat.

Bjork


Bjork is a singer from Iceland. She's had a pretty long career solo and with other groups. I've only just come in on her last album but this is one of my favorite albums. I love her accent. Her music is really varied and she sings it all beautifully.

Madonna


Pretty much everyone has their own opinion about Madonna. I don't like much pop music but I do like her. I think she's a really good singer and her songs can be fun and good to dance to or deep and meaningful. She's been one of my favorites ever since I first heard her. I loved the Bedtime Story song. It was really cool.. but anyway..

Garbage


I don't really know too much about this group but their songs are pretty good. I think what really got me into them is the song Driving Lesson from the Stupid Girl single. The album is pretty cool and some of the songs have become my favorites.

Deep Forest


This is a french duo who take tribal songs and mix them with dance music. It may sound weird but its done very well.

A really cool group I just discovered like yesterday but I think they're very interesting. They do techno music with a blend of various other genres.
