March of the Living 1999 Diary

April 19, 11:05 AM

I want to call home, but Amy and Sarah have the key and I don’t want to be locked out of the room. Maybe I’ll call from here later.

Ayway, what a day!

We started at this settlement called Gush Etsion, which means Etsion Block, which has been very important in Israel’s history. We saw a video and spoke to someone, but for the most part we didn’t do much there.

Know what? I’m going to take a shower before Amy and Sarah come back. Later!

Okay, I’m back. I guess I won’t be calling, because I don’t want to call from the room and it’s curfew now. But at least the shower was good.

Anyway, today. Right. After Gush Etsion, we had lunch and then we went to these great caves! I could have stayed and walked around them for hours. We didn’t have too much time, though.

Then we went to an exhibit about the Beduins. . .

I just called Mom! I love calling home!

Beduins. The exhibit was very interesting. Again I would have liked to have more time to look at it. We also went to a Bedouin tent. There was a real Bedouin there with his two sons. He spoke to us about Bedouin life, and served us coffee. It was very bitter. Then he gave us homemade bread, and it was one of the best breads I’ve even had in my life! It was very thin, thinner than pita, and heavy, and it was so tasty.

We had a ceremony at a school for Yom HaZikaron. It was a nice ceremony, but it didn’t touch me as much as I thought it would. Anyway, I’m tired. G’night!
