Having problems getting on the Zone with Windows95, 98 or ME: Check out theses options:
A couple thoughts on getting connected on the Microsoft Gaming Zone:
1. If you are running firewall software, if may not be letting you connect to the rooms since it sends messages back and forth to your computer. You can temporarily disconnect your firewall software and try it out. Firewall software can become a major problem trying to play Scrabble on the Zone; it takes a lot of work to get firewall software working just right.
2. Are you already logged on to the Microsoft Zone, does a text password box come up asking you to enter your zone name and password? You cannot get into any rooms until you are logged in under your Zone name.
3. It is possible that your "scripting" and "scripting of Java Applets" are disabled. you can check by going to your IE Browser, then to:
"tools" then "Internet Options", then to "security" then to "custom" and then near the bottom of the list will be "Scripting" and then a little farther "Scripting of Java Applets", both need to be enabled.
If they are "disabled" you will not be able to log into the zone with your name and password, or get into the Scrabble rooms since they use variations of scripting.
Disabling the scripting is a security feature. Scripting is how some hackers use to get into a persons computer. Scripting is also important for getting into many advanced websites including Microsofts Windows Update and of course the Microsoft Gaming Zone.
Have you updated your computer thru the Windows Update Program. It should be on your Start menu, under settings menu, its called "Windows Update"; After you are on-line, click on your "windows update" icon, once in the site click on "Product Update". It may take a minute, but then it will show you what needs updated on your windows program.
4. You must be using IE, Netscape won't work on the Microsoft Gaming Zone.
Internet Gaming Zone Lobbies:
