    I am the One

I am the one
Who travels through dull wooden halls
I am the one
Who walks on tall frail stilts
I am the one
Whose hollow head explodes
Showering the earth
With ball bearings
Onward I walk precariously
My hips shaking
With duress
I am the one
Whose head has caved
My little steal beads
Now an ocean of shining danger
A dull click clack
Arises from my wobbling gait
A dull click clack
My shaking beams create
Starving before it reaches the eaves
I am the one
Who missteps
And falls into
My pool of pain
I am the one
Whose body cracks
Unnoticed
Like a gentle rain

I wake up
two seconds
two seconds of peace
two seconds
before I make myself remember
then it fills me
already i'm so tired
the day looms ahead
a twisted bare road
my mind is covered in brambles
that I shall never be free from
that little demon
perched on top of my head
digs its claws in deep
you can't understand
life is easy for you
your whineing and crying
it means nothing to me
you do not understand
the meaning of a hard day
little do you know
when that grin is on my face
when I'm talking
with shining eyes
little do you know
the horrors that I witness
and just keep nodding
just keep plodding
fighting inside
wearing a smile
the demons needles thrust again
or are those my fingers?
digging into my skull
trying to kill the machine
I am that demon
I am that force
I am a civil war
I am emptying
I am so hollow
filled only with this struggle
to be silent
in my mind
for one moment
is all I ask
