2. Samuel Sylvestus² Ray (Anderson¹) was born in Jackson Co, Ga November 7, 1858. Samuel died August 2, 1940 in Ridgeway Com, Jackson Co, Ga, at 81 years of age. His body was interred in Mt Olive Cem, Commerce, GA.

He married Flora Evaleila Chandler in Banks Co, GA, December 22, 1881. Flora was born in Homer, Banks Co, GA May 23, 1864. She was the daughter of Thomas Callaway Chandler and Flora Melissa Sanders. Flora died October 10, 1956 in Ridgeway Com, Jackson Co, Ga, at 92 years of age. Her body was interred in Mt Olive Cem, Commerce, GA.

Samuel Sylvestus Ray and Flora Evaleila Chandler had the following children:

4 i. Mamie Iola³ Ray was born in Ridgeway Com, Jackson Co, Ga September 15, 1882. Mamie died February 17, 1939 in Lula, GA, at 56 years of age.

5 ii. Rosa Nevada Ray was born in Ridgeway Com, Jackson Co, Ga February 8, 1884. Rosa died April 20, 1923 in Ridgeway Com, Jackson Co, Ga, at 39 years of age.

6 iii. Etna Ray was born in Ridgeway Com, Jackson Co, Ga July 25, 1885. Etna died circa 1886 in Ridgeway Com, Jackson Co, Ga.

7 iv. Robert Callaway Ray was born in Ridgeway Com, Jackson Co, Ga August 15, 1886. Robert died in Athens, GA.

8 v. William Tyler Ray was born in Ridgeway Com, Jackson Co, Ga August 12, 1888. William died in Athens, GA.

9 vi. James Morgan Ray was born in Ridgeway Com, Jackson Co, Ga July 1, 1890. James died in Commerce, GA.

10 vii. Sylvester Gibson Ray was born in Ridgeway Com, Jackson Co, Ga June 18, 1892. Sylvester died October 30, 1935 in Athens, GA, at 43 years of age.

11 viii. Fronie Ray was born in Ridgeway Com, Jackson Co, Ga November 24, 1894. Fronie died in Georgetown, SC.

12 ix. Ferd Lee Ray was born in Ridgeway Com, Jackson Co, Ga November 16, 1896. Ferd died February 2, 1955 in Maysville, Banks Co, GA, at 58 years of age.

13 x. Hubert Jackson Ray was born in Ridgeway Com, Jackson Co, Ga August 8, 1898. Hubert died July 6, 1960 in Athens, GA, at 61 years of age.

14 xi. Thomas Seaborn Ray was born in Ridgeway Com, Jackson Co, Ga January 14, 1901. Thomas died January 16, 1970 in Commerce, GA, at 69 years of age.

15 xii. Samuel Chandler Ray was born in Ridgeway Com, Jackson Co, Ga April 10, 1903. Samuel died March 21, 1976 in Commerce, GA, at 72 years of age.

16 xiii. Flora Frances Ray was born in Ridgeway Com, Jackson Co, Ga July 8, 1907. Flora died in Commerce, GA.

17 xiv. Mary Theo Dora Ray was born in Jackson Co, Ga May 12, 1909. She married Howard Teasley Sr Abney in Jackson Co, Ga, November 24, 1938. Howard was born in Hartwell, Hart Co, GA November 19, 1894. Howard died October 31, 1956 in Athens, GA, at 61 years of age. His body was interred in Oconee Hill Cem, Athens, GA.
