Capital Development Policy

Fellow ANU students we at S4B have a dream.  A golden and blue dream. We want to bring the golden sands and blue waters of Bondi to Union Court.  Everyone knows that ANU has a tonne of money stashed away in its capital development fund.  This money is given to ANU not to pay teachers' salaries or provide services to students.  No this money is given to the ANU specifically to pay for new buildings, repairs on old ones and the like.  Have you ever wondered why ANU bothers to paint steps or redevelop stairwells?  It's because they have to spend the money on that sort of thing.   Well now S4B has proposals to make that money work for us, the students!

We want to use the capital development fund to buy 10 tonnes of sand to dump in Union Court.  We also want to put a wave machine in Sullivan's Sewer, err, Creek.   This way we can re-create Bondi in Canberra.  This will allow us to film Breakers at ANU, a major source of future funding for the SA, and ease some of the environmental strain on the beaches of Bateman's Bay.  Imagine the sheer pleasure of coming to uni knowing that you could just go for a swim before class and then just chill out sun baking afterwards.  To enhance the weather we plan to burn a hole in the ozone layer directly above Union Court using CFC's now under development in the chemistry department.

By having our very own beach we would become unique amongst Australian universities.   This could be a major selling point to prospective
students.  We could plant palm trees to add ambience.  This would help ease the pain that some of us still feel after the "fluff trees"  were
so brutally removed from Union Court.  Hammocks and banana lounges would abound and games of frisbee and volleyball would be common place.

Fellow ANU students we at S4B urge you to keep these images in mind when you come to cast your vote.  Ask yourself, "What do I really want from uni?  A degree or a sun tan?"  The choice is obvious.

Vote 1 Students for Breakers!  We want to be with you.
