This place also referred to as the "dirty bird"
has been a mainstay for people in the Laguna
Beach area for years. From the outside it's a hole in the wall and looks like some kind of
sea-hag bar, which I guess it can be if you go at the right time. The only way to find
this out
is to go in on a Wednesday morning to pick-up the credit card you forgot to sign out the
night
before and check-out the people boozing. Sometimes, I am actually jealous because I always
have to go back to work after picking it up. This place is basically a dive bar, but is
actually
pretty fun. The crowd here on the right nights is fun and it usually has a good mixture of
people
who like the opposite sex. After all this is Laguna. And in the summer this place is
packed with
Swedish nannies looking for a good time. Many nights they have live music, and when it's
crowded, the dance floor turns into a sauna. You can always count on people slipping and
falling due to spilled drinks, but that's always a good sign that people are getting
"juiced-up".
Keeping in the dive bar image, drinks are priced to "get loaded and have a good
time." The best
night here is Tuesday. Tuesday in Laguna is "Taco Tuesday" and the "dirty
bird" is the final stop
for most and this is when they usually have their best bands. I recommend getting their by
9:00 p.m.
in the summer when more people are out partying. The weekends can be fun also, but it's
more
hit or miss. I don't suggest any other nights unless you don't have a job and like being
bellied up
to the bar listening to Jimmy Buffet while the bartenders clean off the bartop and remind
you the
price of the drink because you are so loaded that you forgot to pay.

Approx. 35 pool tables is why most people come to this
industrial size pool hall which acts more
like a club. The first thing you notice when you walk in, is the techno, hip-hop or disco
they have
blarring on the sound system and if your into this type of music it's not too bad. Right
inside the
door off to the right is the main bar, which is somewhat small for the size of this place.
Here they
also have plush couches and tables for those of you who are not into playing pool. To keep
up
with the name, there is also a huge aquarium with sharks that measure up to 3 feet.
Because of the
small size of the bar it can sometimes be hectic getting a drink, but luckely for those
playing pool,
they do have plenty of waitresses cruising around. If you come here and don't want to play
pool
or sit around, they also have a seperate room for dancing. It's a modest size room with a
dance
floor and it's own bar. This is where the music is played that is heard throughout the
whole place.
The drink prices are moderate and best time to come here is on the weekends. The crowd on
the
early side of the night seems to be mostly couples and people that have come to play pool
and
have some drinks before going out somewhere else. After ten o'clock the crowd tends to be
more
singles and people who plan on staying the rest of the night. The crowd can be a good
mixture of
guys and girls. If your main goal is to just go out and play pool, this place will do the
job.

This is a bar/restuarant, located in downtown Laguna Beach,
that has been around around since
1918. Here, like many places in Laguna is mostly filled with locals. Most nights here they
have live
music that range from reggae to rock cover bands that are not too bad for the drunker
people to
dance to. The crowd here, like most places, is not too bad on the weekends with a decent
straight
ratio. The drink prices are average and there is plenty of room to sit once the restuarant
area has
cleared out, about 9:30. The one problem with the bar area is that it is long and narrow,
so it can
get congested in some areas and you start to get the pinball effect going.
