Neil...

Okay.  We were called the "Twins".  Like - do we even look remotely alike?  He's 6ft 4 in, I'm 5ft 8in.  He's Caucasian, I'm Chinese...

However what bound us together was the child-like humour and behaviour we both indulged in.  In other words - we had fun around each other.   Everyone gave up asking us to grow-up!

We were both involved in GAP, and also went to Diocesan Lay Reader training together at St Andrew's Cathedral.  We both cracked up laughing when we found out that the other had also signed up for training.  I did wonder aloud whether Loren our vicar would last very long if the Cathedral found out it had sent these two jokers to be trained for lay readership!

In any case, it proved to be a great time for us, as we both come from two different streams of the Anglican Church - he from the low church, where the worship style is less structured, and I from the high church, where the worship style is more traditional.  He was more fundamental in his approach, whilst mine was more liberal.  And with that we spent many an evening debating finer points of theology over gimlets and tequila sunrises at Bastiani's in Clarke Quay, Singapore.

This first picture is one where we were very well behaved - after all it was his wedding day!

This second is one in his more normal pose....

Anyway.  He and his lovely wife Patricia, are now in Rotterdam.   Who knows, there is a chance that our various career paths might actually meet again in Brussels a few years hence... We shall see.  And if that happens, I pity the Anglican Church in Brussels!
