My name is Heidi. I currently live in northeastern Pennsylvania. For the right teaching position, relocating will not be a problem. I have been working as a substitute teacher for the past five years in my local district. I have enjoyed this work tremendously, but I feel it is time to move on to a permanent full-time teaching position. My work as a substitute teacher has given me many valuable experiences. I am comfortable teaching any grade level from kindergarten to grade 12, including Learning Support. I have developed an excellent rapport with the students, faculty, staff and parents in the district. |

I have a B.S. in elementary education with an English concentration. I was recently accepted into graduate school where I will be pursuing a Masters degree in Special Education.
The reason I have chosen to work towards a degree in Special Education is because I really enjoy working with students who have learning disabilities. I also know that as a regular education teacher, I will have students with special needs in my classroom. I would like to know what the best practices are so that I can effectively teach them. |

One of my philosophies on education is that meeting the basic needs of the students will help promote their education and learning. Meeting the physiological needs and safety needs of my students will help promote a sense of belonging and can build their self respect. Learning can and should be fun. I like to incorporate different games and activities into my lesson plans. I believe that children learn more when they are excited and happy to be at school.
As I have been working for the past five years, I have had many opportunities to serve outside the classroom in both voluntary and paid positions. These include teaching summer school, Classroom Plus, teaching exchange students from Spain, tutoring, serving as a yearbook staff advisor and a cheerleading coach.
