Here's another picture of Baxter and his "daddy". Aren't they so cute?!?!?!?!
Bax has a story about his "brother" he'd like to share. Since most people don't know how to translate his "woofs" into English, we'll translate for you here....
My Mommy and Daddy had a dog before they had me. That's OK - they have lots of love to share. His name was Wile E. Coyote, because they thought that he looked a little like the cartoon character. Silly humans!! Any way, you can see Wiley's picture by clicking here. Back to the story..... Mommy and Daddy were living all alone in an apartment when one of their neighbors mentioned that they were unable to house break their new puppy. They told Mommy and Daddy that they were going to take the puppy to the vet's to have it put to sleep (whatever that means). Mommy and Daddy didn't think Wiley was ready to go to sleep yet, so they said they would adopt him instead. Mommy and Daddy tell me they were able to house break Wiley within three days with lots of love and positive reinforcement (and a *little* bit of yelling, too).
The reason I'm telling you this story is because I want people to know that they can find wonderful pets by adopting them from their local shelters. There are THOUSANDS of great pets waiting for the right people to come in and adopt them. You can find your local shelter in the phone book for your area. You can link to the National S.P.C.A. right here. I'm sure they can help you find a good pet as well......
As to Wiley, Mommy and Daddy tell me that when they adopted him, he was around 4 months old. But Wiley was very sick. He had a brain problem that caused him to wobble and shake when he walked. He even fell down a lot. As he got older this problem got worse. Eventually it got so bad that he couldn't eat or drink without help (but of course Mommy and Daddy helped him). Finally Wiley couldn't get up any more, and Mommy and Daddy had to take him to the vet's one last time. Wiley lived to be about 2 years old. Mommy and Daddy were real sad. But then I decided to let them adopt me - and now they're REAL happy again!!!!
And you thought dogs couldn't talk...........
