Who the hell are you?
My name is Jamie, I live
in a crime-infested area called Washington DC, otherwise known as the nation's
Capital. I wasn't born here or anything, I just happen to live here because
of my parents occupation. My extraction is Asian. I am very proud to say
I come from a beautiful country called Nepal. For those of you who are
geographically illiterate, it's in between China & India. I've lived
here for about 11 years and in a way it's sort of my home. I'm well custom
to the culture and trends in the " american" society today. Since
I've lived in the United States most of my life - I have forgotten
what my countrie's culture is like. This is not good, because one should
never forget where they are coming from. So I try to learn or maintain
my native language usage's (though I speak English at home) and knowledge
of my heritage much as possible.

Career?
Well, I'm still exploring my options. I wanted to do journalism for a long time. I was so positive that journalism was my dream career. Now, I'm not so sure. It seems like everyone is majoring in Communications and desire to have a journalism career. So I'm thinking, will there be suitable jobs left for me in the future? I don't want to be one of those journalist who will eventually end up writing sleazy stories to earn a buck. I can't imagine myself doing that. That is not me!
So... what can I do? Well, I'm thinking more in line of business. I would like to work or even start a foundation dealing with giving medical aid to less fortunate people around the world, esp. in Africa and Asia. If not starting a foundation then most likely work for the ACADEMY OF EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT. It's an organization dealing with grant writing to fund various program [ free clinic around the world] and several other stuff. I'm still searching and keeping my options open. One thing that I do know is that I want to help people by giving them medical aid. There are to many people in the world who desperately need medical attention. One of the biggest reason why these people do not get much needed medical aid is primarily because of their country's economic status.
I can easily live a sheltered life and not worry about the problems that exsist around the world. But would a sheltered life make me a better person? Probably not. A well ordered life doesn't make you a better person, it just shows that you are very fortunate to have those things. I can't say " Life is just dandy! and the world is a wonderful place", when they are people suffering in the other parts of the world. I know I can't change or solve the problems that exist but I know I can have some influence. Everyone says they want to help the world, but there aren't many who actually do. Ever heard the cliche " Actions speak louder than words?" Well then... I rest my case.
