Thought For The Month 5/98

I have seen too many traditions ruined by tradition.

Ever notice how people will do something in celebration of religion without knowing why or giving a thought to the true purpose of the tradition? Tradition for tradition's sake is useless. You can say, "Oh, well it's tradition." That's good enough for some people, but what good is tradition if you don't know why you're doing it. "But...It's my religion." I don't knock anyone's religion, it's just too bad most people have no idea why they do what they do. It becomes meaningless, automated, and hollow. Reminds me of Christmas. There is a true purpose behind Chrsitmas, but how many truly celebrate it? Truly?
