Comments: Actually, I did a 12 page report on the number of licks it takes to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop. The average was 647, out of 5 different flavors(100 pops of each flavor) Sour apple took the least, with an average 562 licks, where watermelon took the longest, at 688 licks. It was, of course, dependant on the ambient room temperature, humidity, and "sourness" of the Tootsie Pop. I had to discontinue testing the chocolate be ause it was like licking sandpaper.
