And the fun just keeps on going. I just added a
few more photo galleries to the web site. They are from Singapore
and the Steel Beach Picnic that we had on the flight deck of the USS
Essex (LHD-2). Granted, the Singapore pictures a probably a little
boring since I just got some of the local architecture and sky line.
I would have gotten pics from in the club, but the one night I had free
in Singapore, the club, Club Zouk, was closed. My friend Michael
and I were disappointed since we didn't really know where else to go.
We just both wanted to go out and have a good time. Over half of
the bars on Mohammad Sultan were closed as well. The one bar that
we did go into called "Cheeky Monkey" was pretty much dead.
It was like nothing was going on that night. One of the things
that probably killed it was the fact that over half of the ship was
returning that night and not staying out since we were getting underway
the next afternoon. All was well though. My friend Michael
and I had a good time all the same. As you can see in some of the
pictures, we were in Singapore at the end of the Chinese New Year
celebration. There were demonstrations going on, street vendors
all over the place. We ended up having dinner with Brad and Jacqui
Weaver at the Hard Rock Cafe that afternoon and we all enjoyed the good
company. Jacqui was extremely happy to see me. She didn't
know if she was going to get the chance since she and Brad were unaware
of when I was flying back to Essex from my grandfather's funeral.
Okay, I noticed that in the History page, I am shorting out alot of
family details. Here they are to catch you up. My sister
moved from Louisiana back to Colorado and ultimately ended up in Oregon
where she graduated with a major in Art History. She is currently
on the prowl for a job. My mother is working hard in Maryland
these days. The death of her father hit her hard at first, but she
is pulling together nicely and getting on her feet and moving on.
She knows as well as I do that Grandpa lived and full and happy life and
he wouldn't want us to hold back for him. Dad took Grandpa's death
pretty bad as well. It may not have been his father, but he loved
Grandpa all the same. Dad is still running around the world
working hard. I am noticing a trend in my family. All work and
little play. Wonder if that is a hint that I need some more free
time. Alright, well, that is all you really need to know about
what is going on with them. Everything else is about me.
Enough egotism though. I have been doing some serious work looking to
Law and all sorts of other things. One of my goals while I am in
the Military (US Navy) is to finish out my bachelor's degree probably in
Clerical Studies or Paralegal. From there, whenever I leave the
Navy I can go to Law school full time and get my complete law degree.
Still no romance in the air, but then again, what can you expect when
you ship is underway for more that 8 months with only a few port visits
in countries not your own. It would be nice to have someone
waiting for me on the pier, but all good things come to those who wait.
Besides, I have always been a hopeless romantic. I am looking for
the type that I can come home from work and the two of us cook dinner
together (or I can come home early from work to surprise). After
eating, just get a little work done and crawl in bed together and just
fall asleep in each other's arms. I know, I am a sucker for that
kind of thing. Always have been. Granted, sex every once in
a while is a nice perk, but I will settle with what I can get. |
