Adaptation to Diverse Students
The artifacts I have selected to include in my portfolio for evidence of my understanding of instruction and adaptation for diverse students include a power point and handout on teaching bilingual learners and a power point on teaching ADD/ADHD students.
The artifacts related to teaching bilingual learners cover just about everything you would need to know to teach bilingual learners. The different approaches are discussed and explained, myths are separated from facts, and helpful ideas from teachers around the world are included. The informational packet was created for my Schools in Diverse Society class when I volunteered to teach my classmates about bilingual learners. The power point was converted and shortened from my original handbook for my Instructional Communications class.
As a teacher, we will all have students who have been labeled hyperactive and so forth. Therefore, it is important to understand exactly what that label means and what adaptations should be made for those students. The power point my group created in Instructional Communication separates myths from facts and includes a ton of relevant information for future teachers.
I included these artifacts because they show evidence of my efforts to gain an understanding of the diverse learners I will have in my future classrooms.
