Are They Worth The Trouble??

Don't get me wrong, I love my cats. But they can be a nuisance! There is no place in the house safe from my cats. I have given up the thought of collecting ceramics, I have very few left as it is, and they are kept in a cabinet. The cats seem to love running and jumping on shelves, sliding to a stop, then watching what ever had been there fall to the floor. Then they run and hide, wait for us to enter the room and trying to look innocent, pretend they are as shocked as we are to see a broken item on the floor. Of course as soon as you turn to them to say anything, they are off like a shot and hiding. Hiding is something cats are great at. It is amazing the tight spots into which they can fit. After they think we have had enough time to calm down they sneak to an area where they think we can't see them to watch us. But one look in their direction and they are off again.

We have a Siamese that is a total terror !! I named him Bubba, but my husband calls him Stinky, I guess my husband's name for him fits. I swear my husband gives him goofy pills every morning. Have you ever seen a cat chase his own tail? Bubba is a real curtian climber, and I can't seem to break him of that. He jumped up on one of the window shades the other day and it scared him when it rolled up so quickly after he let it go. And of course he was repremanded for that. He couldn't hide fast enough because we were too close that time. He is constantly getting into trouble, this week alone, he has broken my favorite lamp, and a clay pot that I had spent several hours painting. Not to mention the fact that the plant that was in it had to be repotted. I can only hope the plant will survive the shock. And to think this is only Tuesday. I've thought about moving him outside, but I don't have the heart for it.

Then there is Blackout she is very temperamental. She is a 6 year old black (if you hadn't already figured that out) long hair with grey tufts. She is really beautiful, and a good cat most of the time. But the other cats scatter when she gets into trouble. To Blackout, being told "no", "get down" or "feet on the floor" is getting into trouble. They all know she is going to slap which ever one is closest to her as she walks by them. It's as if she thinks they are laughing at her, and she wont stand for that !! The only time she breaks things is if the other cat that she has decided to take her frustrations out on, happens to try to run from her, and jumps on something in an attempt to flee. But the cat being chased usually runs by one of us in hopes that we can catch Blackout before she manages to score. That of course is not always easy to do.

I have other cats, but their personalities are not quite as outstanding as Bubba's and Blackout's. Oh but wait, Max, how could I forget Maxwell !! He is about as spoiled as a cat can get. He is a black short haired part Manx, with a white spot on his chest. He does have a tail, but it is short. The most unusual thing about his tail is that it looks like a little black bunny tail. When you look closely at it you can see that it is actually about 3 inches long, and curled. Really strange, but he was born with it that way.The main problem I have with him is when I sit in the living room, he thinks that I HAVE to hold him. I can put him on the floor as many times as I want to, but he will just jump right back up.

Then there is Bugzy a long haired tuxedo with really large green "bug eyes", thats where she got her name. Coffee, another long haired tuxedo, he got his name because where ever I set my coffee cup down, he was there getting into it. I finally started using a mug with a lid to keep him out of it. Stickerpaws a black short hair, when she was little, she had a problem keeping her claws retracted. And last but not least is my daughter's cat. A short haired gray, with beautiful yellow-gold eyes. Her name is Dragon, why my daughter named her that, I'll never figure out.

On the plus side, not one of my cats has ever judged me. They have been a sourse of hours of endless entertainment with their crazy antics. They can be comforting when I'm feeling down. Hmmm, I seem to have answered my own question.
Yes !! They are worth the trouble.
