Dick Dale was born in Boston on May 4, 1934. He was born Richard Monsour and later renamed
Dick Dale by legendary country DJ T. Texas Tiny, who thought the name would be a better
sounding stage name for the young country singer and would be easier to sign autographs
with. His early musical carreer began when he taught himself to play the piano, ukelele,
and then the six-stringed guitar played left handed upside down. His love of music was
greatly suported by his family who were of Lebanese and Polish descent. The memories of
the melodies he heard while growing up would be highly evident in his powerful blend of
middle eastern influenced music. His talent and professionalism is a fine example to every
musician.
Dick is has a very busy concert schedule. You have to go see him! You will certainly have a blast!
