What Is Scanning

For those of you out there who don't know what scanning is I will endevour to give you an insight.Scanning is basically a way of listening to any radio broadcast.It may be a radio station,tv station,emergency services or any other type of two way radio broadcast.

When you think about it there are alot of people,company's and organisations out there that use two way communication systems.The most popular frequencies that are listened to(with a scanner)are the emergency services eg:police,fire brigade,ambulance.Of these,the police would have to be the most popular and most exciting to listen to.

The Legalities

In Australia scanning is not illegal.But in some other countries around the world it is illegal to own a scanner.The only thing that you are not allowed to listen to in Australia is phone calls eg:mobile phones and cordless phones.
