~ The Invitation ~

I don't care where you came from, only who you are today.

I don't care how many diamonds shine on your fingers,
only what shines in your heart.

I don't care who you know or who you were educated with,
only about the education of your spirit and soul.

I don't care about how many birthday's you've celebrated,
only the wisdom you've gained along your years.

I don't care which sign you were born under or which planets revolve around your moon,
only that you've worked your way through your sorrows of life,
rising above the pain through tears,
yet facing what lies ahead with excitement, optimism and hope.

I don't care about your view points or dissertation on the morality of mankind,
only about the morals which you hold within yourself.

I don't care about your religious beliefs and doctrines,
only about the God which lives inside of you.

I don't care about the smiles you give the world,
only about the person who can look in the mirror
and smile easily at your reflection.

I don't care about the person the world perceives you to be,
only about the person, who in the stillness
and quiet of the night is content with the company that you keep.

I want to know the depth of you, the heart of you, the soul of you,
and if you can withstand the fires of life.

I want to know the strength of your spirit, the kindness of your ways,
the tenderness of your love, your hidden dreams, and aspirations.

I want to know that even through the hardships and disappointments of life,
you can stand at the top of the mountain on a moonlit night,
raise your fist to the stars and shout with wild abandon,
"IT'S WONDERFUL TO BE ALIVE" !!!!!!!!!

I want to know that when you grow old,
there will still be a sparkle in your eyes,
a smile on your lips, tenderness in your fingertips,
wisdom gained through mistakes, and a love
capable of surpassing the bonds of death and beyond.
