WELCOME TO THE TRUTH OF THE NAVY

FIRST THING

DON'T BELIEVE YOUR RECRUITER. EVEN WHEN THEY SAY TRUST ME I WILL BE HONEST WITH YOU.

SECOND THING

YOU ARE NEVER GUARANTEED ANYTHING EVEN IF IT IS IN WRITING
THERE IS ALWAYS SMALL PRINT

THIRD THING

DON'T JOIN FOR THE MONEY THAT IS HOW THEY SCREW YOU.
Here is how they catch you off guard. They offer you a lot of money for certain jobs. Look at this they only offer the money in jobs they can't keep people in. Also they will tell you about the apprecticeship program and tell you that you can see what all the jobs are and then strike for something. Most of the time you wind up doing something you don't want to and get stuck in a field that you don't like. Only a few people get lucky enough and get a good job.

FOURTH THING

DON'T GO INTO AN ENGINEERING FIELD
These jobs include anything Nuclear(this is where the money is but it really sucks and involves a long commitment. Oh yeah there aren't to many nuclear plants outside the Navy anymore) NOT WISE TO GO HERE. Machinist Mates(my rating) Electricians, Interior Communications(phone repair) Damage Controlman(they tell you these are fire fighters. not even close to the real ones)Hull Technicians(they fix toilets and clean up a lot of shit). These rates get the worst liberty(time off) and put in the most hours. You rarely see the sun and you are reffered to as a mole. There are really only two people on the ship Engineers and passengers. Better to be a passenger.
