Outside the Window

by Mimi Clarke

Outside this window there
are places I
have seen. outside this window
the world is spinning and
I am dizzy.
the air waves goodbye
and the birds seem to know
my song.
people stop to laugh. And outside
my window, i watch it
turn away, run fast. see what's
up there in those heads.
outside this window
breath a new light. fly away and don't
look d
o
w
n.
fly.
she can see the sky
crying over her. she can
taste the hunger in
it's heart.
the yearning is
tearing through her. how dizzy
she becomes. and the
passer-bys forget to
smile their hellos. so she
flies to another branch.
outside my window i see
it all fade.
the shadows gallop around
with no end.
they fire up their cigerettes
and play sherades.
