Recruited after the JLA's near-disastrous conflict with Lex Luthor's Injustice Gang, the Huntress joins an elite cadre of fellow costumed adventurers to complete the team's charter of fourteen permanent members. Having endured a brutal kidnapping as a child and witnessingher Mafioso family savagely murdered, the Huntress now takes an "eye for an eye" approach to crime-fighting, meeting out justice with a harsh edge. It is Batman's hope that her inclusion in the world's greatest pantheon of super-heroes will provide the Huntress with role models more in line with his own vision of how heroes shoudl behave. Will training longside veteran adventurers teach the impassioned vigilante the value of restraint? Concealing his hopes and cocerns, the Batman observes the Huntress' actions with the greatest of scrutiny.
