A guardian Angel who exiled himself from Heaven, Zauriel first joined forces with the JLA to fight back the army of the rogue-king Asmodel. Following the momentious battle, Zauriel once again stood with the Justice League to oppose Asmodel's attempted coup of Heaven itself. Because of his help in thwarting Asmodel, Zauriel was allowed to elevate his exile status to that of official champion of Heaven on Earth. making him a truly divine super-hero. When not with the League, he watches over our planet from the Aerie - a massive fortress high above Los Angeles. Zauriel has experience with spiritual and super-natural conflict that is invaluable to the League. Having existed since the Creation, he shares the wisdom of the ages and the brilliance of his Angel Mind with his JLA comrades. But it is the purity of his prinicples and the power of his faith in God that he considers his greatest strength.
