Updated October 11, 2007
It's that time again. I don't know how much I'll be playing this year. I have a few scheduled for the first part of the year. Last year the wrist injury was a factor for about 3 months and family matters pretty much took care of the rest of the year. Everything *seems* to be squared away now and we'll see how things go. I'm excited about what I do have planned so far, I feel good about the sets I've made and look forward to playing. **Remember, if I just nod at you, don't be offended, it's probably best that I remain silent at that moment.** Good Darts to All!

A new year is on the horizon and we're all gearing up and getting ready to hit the Pennsylvania Open, Rae Chesney Memorial, in Philadelphia (Trevose) PA. It's a much anticipated event for many of us. It's the first tournament of the year for many and it's a BIG ONE! It is, of course, a guaranteed good time! I'm looking forward to seeing some people I haven't seen for close to a year, and others I saw just a few months ago. I look forward to seeing new and old faces. I wish you all a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR and much success in all aspects of your life in 2007! See you next week! Doreen

PA Open, Rae Chesney Memorial Results/Write-up

Well, as expected, Friday night was a GREAT time. Perhaps too great... as it rolled over into Saturday, or should I say the aftershock of Friday night rolled around in my stomach most of the day Saturday. Not very professional, and for that I extend my sincerest apologies to my ladies doubles partner, Brenda Roush. Not that I wasn't well behaved, I had no choice on Saturday. I was actually quite quiet all weekend, just ask Todd H. We didn't hang out at all until the E A G L E S game on Sunday in the "library". Good drinks, great bartenders. :0) Summing up Saturday... NADA!

Sunday ... MUCH better!!! Top 4 in ladies doubles cricket, top 8 in ladies singles 501. Shot very well, if I do say so myself. Yeah, I'm really proud of myself for pulling it back together on Sunday and not letting Saturday get me down. It's always nice to end the weekend on a positive note! Italian pork sandwich in the "library", drinks with ... well EVERYONE.. Monica, Brenda, Bob, Todd... PAULLLY you keep rootin' for them Saints!!!

Thanks to the staff! Thanks to Nicole Smith for getting me to a trash can, getting me to my room... and filling in the blanks. Thanks to Tonya Aholt for reminding me why I don't do tequila. Thanks to Mick & Anthony for putting up with me! Maybe next year guys? 3rd times a charm! Next stop ... Las Vegas.

Las Vegas Open Results/Write-up

Yup, it takes me a week to get back on track after only being thrown off schedule for 2 days. I should just make a week out of it, but that would involve the family and that's not in the cards right now. Maybe next year.

I teamed with Brenda Roush for this tournament, we played the Open Doubles Cricket (b/c they still don't offer Ladies Doubles Cricket) and we lost 2nd round (?). I'm pretty sure it was 2nd round. Ladies Doubles 501 we lost in the Top 16, we had double trouble, this too shall pass! I'm enjoying shooting with Brenda, immensely! I had a top 16 in the singles cricket, losing to Marilyn Popp in 3, after defeating Stacy Bromberg 2 straight. I teamed up with Mike Abboud for mixed but we would lose first round of the cricket to Ed Schope and Tracy Fieretag (sp? sorry).

Sunday I would lose 2-1 in the Top 16 Ladies Singles 501 to Laura Powers of England, but it's OK b/c she owed me from last year. Once again, we both had issues with the doubles and Laura prevailed this year. I'm looking forward to running into her again next year. Mike and I would lose 4th round of the Mixed Doubles 501, but not after shooting some spectacular darts against a Japanese team.

I actually had fun this year. I'm not a gambler so Vegas really isn't *that* exciting for me. I didn't make it to the Rio for the buffet but I did get to Hufbruhaus (SMILE) and had an ABSOLUTE BLAST! Thanks for including me: Nickersons & Roushes and everyone else! Jenny ~ BABY GIRL!!!! BRENDA I LOVE YOU!!! Dart hall: Mike... more sleep next year... xoxo Della ... "to be the best you have to beat the best." Katie ... "shoulders back, chest out" Raja ... you absolutely rock and I've enjoyed our friendship developing over the years, I look forward to many more! The entire control desk ... you have made me feel more welcome each and every year, it is through each of you reaching out to me that I have been able to become a better person. Love you all and see you next year!!!!

Syracuse - FINALLY the Write-up

OK.. first I was a slacker this year when it came to joining in the bar fun. I didn't get up there Friday night, I opted for the early Saturday morning drive, for a variety of reasons. IF Jamie would have picked me up, I would have been there Friday night. WHATEVER!

I shot with Jen Benetazzo for the ladies doubles events, we had a top 4 and a wash. But we did very well in cricket, and we just need to work on hitting our doubles. Hopefully, we'll have the opportunity to shoot together again in the near future.

Jamie Jordan, Scott Ingram, and I gave it a go in the mixed trips, but that didn't work out as we would have liked. Next time guys, we are a great team, we can win these events!

Singles, I had a top 8 in the cricket and a first round loss to Gerri in the 501, once again, double trouble, what's a girl to do?

I did not partake in any bargames this year, but I did have Chinese on Saturday and bbq on Sunday! I prefer Sunday's dinner ~ the food was great and the company was pretty cool too! Robin, Cali, John (Part), Gail, Jay, Trish, even Carolyn... LOL Photos to be uploaded soon, I have a busy busy life.

Port City - The Write-up

My first year to attend this tournament. No bargames but I did meet some new people and I did have some fun. Of course, Club Spin is ALWAYS open. But let's talk darts.

I decided to play in the draw on Friday night.... a rare occassion. I even drew a good partner, Jimmy Spinoza.... but I don't know how or why we lost, and I don't remember who took us out. I do remember shots. I signed up for the 2nd chance and drew Troy. WHO took his sweet time getting to the board the first round. After some banter between the two of us, and no it wasn't friendly banter, we won the first round and became more amicable as time went by. We lost in the top 4 but we had a REALLY good time! And I have new friends!

I shot with Brenda Roush at this one, we had a top 4 in the 501 and a wash in the cricket. Mostly because of me, I had some issues on Sunday. But Brenda did win the singles cricket, which I was very happy for her.

I shot with Sean Moran and Dayton Strawbridge in the triples, OK... that's not true. I didn't shoot much at all! However, the guys managed to drag me to a top 4 finish!

I shot with Sean in the mixed doubles. We had a top 16 finish, losing to Ray Carver and Brenda Roush. I haven't shot with Sean before, but found myself in a nice comfort zone, maybe another time?

Singles ~ BLAH! I think it was a 2nd round loss in the 501 to Sharon Glover. And a first round lost to Tracy Tibbetts in the cricket, but that's OK b/c defeating Tracy would have pitted me against Brenda, and we all know how that would have turned out.

Dinner with Brenda and Holly on Sunday was quite yummy. Excellent choice Holly! Karaoke was fun on Saturday night! Peg, thanks for the earrings, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM! YOU ROCK!!! Thanks to everyone that helped me have fun at this tournament. I look forward to seeing many of you again soon.

Note: I skipped regionals. The major reason is b/c at this time, I do not see me fitting an overseas trip into my calendar year. Additionally, I'm not in the position to chase points this year, or as Darrell calls it, widgets. MAYBE 2008 will be different, maybe not. Only time will tell.

Oh I've been terrible, haven't I????

White Mountain 2007

Nothing spectacular in darts. I cashed in the singles cricket, but bombed in the singles 501 and then lost in the consolation bracket of the singles 301. I shot doubles with Brenda Roush, mixed doubles with Sean Moran, and mixed trips with Sean Moran and Jim Chaderton.

Friday night was a late night at Club Spin. Saturday night I managed to be in bed by 11:30pm. The venue is nice, great scenery. I have a new appreciation for the New England states and the people. Sure, I see the "regulars" but there are different faces and I can't wait to return next year.

Virgina Beach

Once again, shot with Brenda Roush. Top 8 finish in the doubles cricket and a first round loss to Stacy B and Marilyn P in the doubles 501, after snagging the 2nd leg to make it go three.

Top 8 finishes in both ladies singles events. The singles cricket saw Terri M. of Philly send me packing in two straight. The singles 501 saw Christina Medina of Texas send me packing after three. However, I'm pretty happy with the way I played in both events.

Jamie Jordan and I shot the mixed doubles again, unfortunately, we lost 2nd round of both events, so nothing spectacular to report.

The venue was under renovation, so it sucked b/c there was no pool or hot tub to enjoy. It wasn't a terrible weekend, but not great weather to be enjoying the beach either. The restaraunt, also under renovation, was a bit pricy, for my taste. Sunday, once again, saw events running behind. I'd love to take blame for not turning my first round singles winning ticket in *immediately*, however, since I was chased down for the ticket, reprimanded twice for not turning it in immediately AND then WAITED 20 MINUTES for my next round to be called, I refuse to accept blame. Ladies doubles 501 should have started at 4:00 on Sunday, our first round match was called somewhere around 6:25pm. Once again, this is just too much for people that MUST go home on Sunday in order to work on Monday. We have a 6 hour drive, each way, it makes for a long ride, a long Sunday, a long Monday... and perhaps some testiness up until Wednesday. But... we all know.... I'll be there again next year. Perhaps next year we'll be in the position to take Monday off.

Charlotte

Teamed up with Nancy Huntoon, we had a top 4 finish in the doubles cricket and a 2nd round loss in the doubles 501.

Teamed up with Jamie Jordan in the mixed, we lost 2nd round, both events. :-(

I lost in the first round of the singles cricket to Colleen Eldridge and I lost 1st round of the 501 to Patricia Miller. Sigh ... once again, game winning darts eluded me.

I'm going to try and practice some but that's really not the issue. I think lack of competition is my issue. I don't play league, nor do I attend blind draws. There's only so much imaginary pressure one can put on oneself. I've got a bit of time off, as my next tournament is in June. However, I am considering participating in my regional even on June 3rd. We'll see how things go.

There really wasn't anything "spectacular" at this tournament. Saturday evening I enjoyed a nice comfortable dinner with Chris Helms. I LOVE talking with this guy! Intelligence abounds and I really enjoy sharing some time with him. Sunday, was dinner at the Omaha Steakhouse, hey Scott I've got the steak seasoning! There were a lot of laughs at the table. Ohhh Friday night I enjoyed some dance time in the hotel lounge. That was cool! I didn't go "next door" but my roommates did. ROFLMAO!!! I was the first one in bed on Friday night and it wasn't early!

Region V-3 Regional, June 3rd, Kearny, NJ

11 women and 22 men means 1 woman and 3 men advance to nationals.

Marcia Loche and I tied for first place, each winning 25 of 30 legs. Marcia had bested me 2-1 while still playing in the bracket of 11. I had started pretty strong that day, I think winning 11 of my first 12 legs.

Marcia and I had to have a best of 5 play-off, I was able to prevail in this one and will be on the East-West Team in Connecticut in August.

Jim W., Bill Davis, and Tom Waterman will advance for the men.

CVDA Classic, Richmond, VA June 8th - 10th

I decided to play the first blind draw on Friday evening, 501. I was fortunate to get Doug Johnson as a partner, and he shot extremely well. However, I couldn't hit the double (and it really should have been my job b/c Doug did everything else!) and we lost first round.

Jamie Jordan and I lost 3rd round of the mixed doubles cricket to Darin Young and Marcia Loche.

Nancy and I lost 3rd round (top 8) to Marcia Loche & Marilyn Popp in the doubles cricket.

I lost 3rd round (top 8) to Marilyn in the singles 501, and if I would have taken out the 147 in the first leg it might have gone differently. However, I missed the double 18 after hitting the trip 19 and trip 18. :-( But the darts are starting to feel good again. Much better than Charlotte.

Nancy and I won the doubles 501 !! YAY!!!!! YAY!!!! YAY!!! :-D

Note: Jamie Jordan & Bob Gargan took 2nd in the mens doubles 501. This means something because Jamie is my mixed doubles partner.

I lost first round of the ladies singles cricket to MaryJo Chesney, it went 3 legs. However, in the 2nd and 3rd legs MaryJo got hot on the 18's and 17's and never looked back. :-P She then lost to Marilyn... LOL Because Marilyn hit a double bull and 2 triples (I think) to win the game. LOL

Jamie and I took Top 4 in the mixed doubles 501, losing to Darin Young and Marcia Loche again! Talk about a monkey on your back... Darin makes one big monkey to have to shake! This match went 3 legs. The 3rd leg Jamie won the diddle and started with 100, scores then went 81, 100, 85, 95. Marcia left Darin sitting on 100 after 12, Darin went S-20, D-20, D-20, to wrap the leg up in 15 darts and end the match. I never got the shot at 40 for the 18 dart game, which means I should have shot better score, but Jamie will say he should have had the 135. LOL

Lori Young (Darin's wife) and Ryan Young (Darin's son) took 2nd in the adult/youth on Sunday morning!!! WOOOOOO!!! Do we all remember Ryan when he was just a baby??? Awwwwwww.... LOL Ryan will be turning 8 soon, watch out guys, he'll be coming for you in about 5 years and that kid is on target to be better than his Dad!

And now I'm silent until August, or so it would seem, unless a regional gets thrown in somewhere, I don't know, but it's a possibility. Until then, keep your eye on the main page for new flyers, I'll do my best to stay on top of it all. Good Darts!!

OCTOBER 10, 2007 OVERALL UPDATE

Soo… it’s been FOREVER, no? Well between work… college… family…. Darts…. It pretty much is difficult for me to keep this page updated. I really hope to do better in 2008. I’m sure you are thinking 2008? There are still 3 months of 2007 … well October looks like there won’t be any darts for me, except in my basement. November will see me go to the Western Maryland Open and Bridlington, England, then December, I’ll most likely make a trip to Dallas. That will end my 2007 schedule.

I’m going to do this briefly, as my memory probably isn’t very accurate.

I did attend the regional in late July and I won that regional, which would send me to Denver in September.

I did attend the East-West in August in Connecticut. I advanced out of my bracket and finished 2nd in the Nationals, losing to Stacy. Stacy was already scheduled for Bridlington, so I received the invite. I am 100% responsible for all costs. My husband is working his arse off to get me there. The ticket is purchased, now all I need to worry about is the hotel funds and spending money. I’m sure I’ll have tight purse strings, but at least I’ll have the experience.

The US Classic which followed the Nationals, didn’t go so well. My doubles partners were Nancy and Jamie. Unfortunately, there was no luck to be had. My singles went the same way .. I just could NOT hit a winning dart.

Then there was Atlanta, GA. That was fun b/c the Brits and some other Euros were there. I lost round before the $$ in both singles events. Brenda and I took 2nd in the doubles 501 but lost 1st round (I think) in the cricket doubles… my bad! It was a loooong day!!! Trips didn’t go really well either, shooting with Scott Ingram and Jamie Jordan … I forget where we finished. I did enjoy the tournament.

Then there was WADA. I shot with Brenda and Jamie. Brenda and I had 2nd and 1st place finishes in the doubles. I finished 2nd in the singles 501 and I think top 16 in the singles cricket.. Before the $$. Jamie and I finished top 4 in the mixed. Triples was a wash.

Then there was Chicago. And that pretty much sums that up. Partners were Nancy and Jamie. I did very poorly in all events. But I got to see some of the guys from across the pond again, and that is always enjoyable.

Then there was Denver. My partners were Brenda and Tex, trips was Tex & Rick. Brenda and I finished 2nd in 501. Tex, Rick and I finished top 8 in trips. Tex & I lost round before the money in mixed dubs. Brenda and I lost 1st round of cricket… just rough Sunday morning start. I finished top 8 in singles 501 but lost 1st round of singles cricket.
