Losses, by Lynn Lanala

		"Losses...."

Time and sleep have a way...
of dulling the sharp edges of pain,
So it no longer reaches out
to stab at each dark corner

Time and sleep have a way...
		of making sorrow abate,
So it no longer conjures tears
		at unexpected times

Yes, time and sleep have a way
		of letting the heart forget
But oh, the price we must pay
		for that numbing relief

	I no longer remember,
the feel of your arms embrace
Or your lips, or our bodies entwined.
		At times I find I've
	even forgotten your face.
