6. GEORGE LUCAS: Sixth child born to Andrew Lucas and Elizabeth
    Edwards.
    Born 7 Nov 1821, Beckwith Twp., Lanark Co., Ont., died 13 Apr
    1895, Brooke Twp., Lambton Co., Ont. He married ELIZABETH
    COWAN, born 20 Feb 1825,  Ire., died 28 Sep 1891, Markdale,
    Ont. (d/o Isaac Cowan and Sarah Johnston).
    Both buried St. James Cemetery, Brooke Twp., Ont.
    They had 10 children. William, Sarah, Alexander, Edward,
    Elizabeth, Isaac #1, Harriet, Isaac #2, Margaret and Johnston.

    George lived on Lot 16 Con 6 Warwick Twp., and in 1890, moved
    to Markdale, Ont., where his son William had moved to in 1880.

1.  WILLIAM LUCAS: Born 4 Jun 1847, died 2 Apr 1918. On the
     27 Sep 1871, he married Rebecca Hume, born 25 Jun 1850, died
     24 Feb 1938. (d/o John Hume and Margaret (Trimble/Tremble)
     Boles).
     Both buried Markdale, Ont.
     They had 9 children. Alberta, Sarah, Wallace, Lottie, William,
     Eugene, Harvey, John and George.

     William, with the backing from his father, opened his first private
     bank in Brigden, Ont. This bank was closed in 1880 and he moved
     to Markdale, Ont., where he started another private bank (Wm.
     Lucas & Co. Bankers). He also opened branches in Flesherton
     and Dundalk, Ont. Years later he sold the bank in Markdale to the
     Merchants Bank, which was right next door. When the Bank Act
     was passed, which did away with private banks, the Bank of
     Montreal bought out the Merchants Bank.

        (1) MINNIE "ALBERTA" LUCAS: Born 27 Jul 1872, died around
             1944. On the 19 Jun 1901, she married James Ernest
              Hovey.
             Both buried Clinton, Ont.
             They had 2 children. William and Frederick.

              James was a Druggist in Clinton, Ont.

        (2) SARAH JANE "Sadie" LUCAS: Born 2 Mar 1874, died
             14 Jan 1968. On the 15 Mar 1903, she married Dr. Lewis
             Godfrey Campbell, born 2 May 1876, died 12 Nov 1965.
             Both buried Markdale, Ont.
             They had no children.

             Sadie was a teacher, Godfrey a Dentist practiced in
             Markdale for 60 years when he retired in 1955.

        (3) WALLACE TREMBLE LUCAS: Born 10 Aug 1876, died
             15 Jul 1938.       Never married.
             Buried Markdale, Ont.

    
       (4) LOTTIE MAY LUCAS: Born 20 Mar 1880, died 1 Jun 1965.
            On the 11 Nov 1908, she married Rev. James Albert
            Robinson, born 1879, died 10 May 1959.
            Both buried Markdale, Ont.
            They had no children.

             Also show name as being Charlotte Lottie May Lucas.

        (5) WILLIAM GEORGE HUME LUCAS: Born 6 Mar 1882, died
             2 Apr 1883.
             Buried Markdale, Ont.

             "Willie" was a fragile baby and had to be carried around on
              a pillow so that he didn't get injured.

        (6) EUGENE LUCAS: Born 9 Mar 1884, died 22 Apr 1965. On
             the 20 Sep 1916 he married Brenda Hamilton Cates, born
             1889, died 24 Feb 1964. (d/o Adoniran Cates and Florence
             Isabel Hamilton).
             Eugene buried Carberry, Man.
             Brenda buried Napinka, Man.
             They had 1 child a son who died in infancy. (Name not
             known).

             Edward was a Bank of Montreal Manager in Russell and
             Carberry, Man.

             Brenda was a well known Music Teacher both vocal and
             instrumental when she passed away the"Brenda Lucas
             Music Scholarship Fund" was established and awarded
             annually to the local piano student receiving the highest
             marks in The Royal Conservatory of Music exams.

 
        (7) HARVEY HUME LUCAS: Born 13 Oct 1887, died 6 Dec
             1975. On the 9 Feb 1921, he married Renata Knechtel,
             born 2 Dec 1894, died 1 Feb 1975. (d/o Jacob S. Knechtel
             and Rosalena Reising).
             Both buried Markdale, Ont.
             They had 4 children. Elizabeth, William, John and Christina.

             Harvey worked in the Merchants Bank in Markdale and
             Hanover, Ont.

        (8) JOHN FREDERICK LUCAS: Born 19 Jan 1891, died 10 Nov
             1975. In Nov 1928, he married Margaret (Tar) Robertson
              who died 29 Apr 1936.
             John buried Taoarmina, Sicily.
             Margaret buried Markdale, Ont.
             They had no children.

             Fred was a lawyer and in later years he and his brother
             George owned a World-Wide Travel Agency.  Fred died
             while on vacation.

        (9) GEORGE HUME LUCAS: Born 1 Aug 1896, died 26 Feb
             1996. On the 29 Dec 1928, he married Elsie May Moore,
             born 1903, diec 1981.
             Both buried Markdale, Ont.
             They had 2 adopted children. Andrew and Carol.

             At one time lived in Victoria, B.C., later moved to Toronto
             where George and brother Fred owned a Travel Agency.

2.  SARAH JANE LUCAS: Born 1849, died 23 Oct 1872. On the
     14 Dec 1870, she married John King, born 1836, died 1921.
     (s/o John King and Elizabeth Kennedy).
     Both buried St. James Cemetery, Brooke Twp., Ont.
     They had 1 child. John.

     Sarah was John's 2nd wife. His 1st wife was Sarah Jane Mitchell.
     His 3rd wife was Ann Boylen Higgins. (John and Ann are in same
     plot St. James Cemetery).

         (1) JOHN WILLIAM KING: Born 15 Oct 1872, died 1 Jan
              1873.

3.  ALEXANDER LUCAS: Born 1851, died 8 Jun 1942. On the 10 Jan
    1878, he married Jane Frances "Jennie" Tanner, born 1857, died
     31 May 1920. (d/o John Tanner and Bedelia Liddy).
    Both buried Mountain View Cemetery, Vancouver, B.C.
    They had 2 children. Fredrick and Edward.

    In 1886, he moved to Calgary, Alta. He was one of the founders
    of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce. Also Mayor of Calgary and
    Publisher of the Calgary Herald Newspaper.
    In 1897 he left Calgary for Vancouver, B.C. In 1910 he farmed in
    the Agassiz, B.C. area and was a member of the B.C.
    Legislature for that district from 1910 to 1916.

        (1) FREDRICK GEORGE TANNER LUCAS: Born 29 Sep 1878,
             died 24 Sep 1935. On the 8 Aug 1915, he married Donna
             Lenore Hungerford.
             Both buried Vancouver, B.C.
             They had 2 children. Helen and Donna.

             Fred was a Lawyer and in 1935 was appointed to the
             Supreme Court Bench in B.C.

        (2) EDWARD ALEXANDER LUCAS: Born 1884, died 14 Dec
             1961. He married ??.
             Both buried Vancouver, B.C.
             They had 5 children. Frances, Michael, Erusla, Rose and
             April.

             Edward was also a well known Lawyer in Vancouver, B.C.

4.  EDWARD GEORGE LUCAS: Born 1855, died 11 Mar 1932. In
     1888, he married Harriett Ann Dean, born 1864, died 1944.
     Both buried Dundalk, Ont.
     They had 3 children. Edward #1, George and Edward #2.

     Tombstone for Marriett reads Margaret Ann Dean.

        (1) EDWARD OLIVER LUCAS #1: Born, 1889, died 1890.

        (2) GEORGE MORLEY LUCAS: Born 1893, died 1930.
                    (Never married).

        (3) EDWARD DEAN "Ted" LUCAS: Born 1902, died 30 Jun
             1974. He married Helen Bowes.
             They had 1 child. Ronald.

             Ted worked for the bank in Orangville and Kingsville, Ont.

5.  ELIZABETH ANN LUCAS: Born 1 Sep 1857, died 5 Oct 1945. On
     the 3 Oct 1882, she married Angus Macpherson, born 1856, died
     1912.
     Both buried Markdale, Ont.
     They had 3 children. Blanche, Hugh and George.

        (1) BLANCHE MACPHERSON: Born 1884, died 1966. She
             married Leonard Law Blackburn.
             Both buried Markdale, Ont.
             They had no children.

        (2) HUGH BUCHANON MACPHERSON:  He married ??
             Both buried Markdale, Ont.
             They had no children.

        (3) GEORGE LUCAS MACPHERSON: Born 26 Jan 1896, died
             30 Nov 1975. On the 25 Sep 1926, he married Eugenia
             Maude Kiene, born 18 Jul 1900 died 24 Feb 1990.
             (d/o Eugene Kiene and Maude Beresford).
             Both buried Markdale, Ont.
             They had 1 child. Jean.

             In the 1930's George was chief engineer at the Sarnia, Ont.,
             plant of Imperial Oil. He lated moved to Toronto, Ont., and
             became a director of Imperial Oil.

6.  ISAAC "ALFRED" LUCAS #1: Born 1860, died 9 Nov 1861.
     Buried St. James Cemetery, Brooke Twp., Ont.

7.  HARRIET LAVINIA LUCAS: Botn 1862, died 26 Oct 1947. On the
     9 Sep 1884, she married the Rev. James Frank Parke, born
     1855.
     Both buried Markdale, Ont.
     They had 1 child. Shirley.

              (1) SHIRLEY PARKE:  Married Albert Eric Carr.

8.  ISAAC BENSON LUCAS #2: Born 19 Sep 1867, died 8 Mar 1940.
     He married Elizabeth A. Richardson, born 1865, died Dec 1920.
     Both buried Markdale, Ont.
     They had 2 children. George and Isaac.

     Isaac re-married Edith Jane Trees who died 27 Dec 1972.

     Isaac was a Lawyer and elected to the Ontario Legislature in
     1898 and served as Provincial Treasurer and  Attorney-General
     of the Province. He was a member of the Ontario Hydro-Electric
     Power Commission for 20 years until he retired in 1934.

        (1) GEORGE KENDALL LUCAS: Born 1895, died 1932. He
             married Greta Hunter.
             George buried Markdale, Ont.
             They had 4 children. Elizabeth and 3 others names not
             known.

             George drowned in Georgian Bay, while saving his 3 year
             old daughter.

        (2) ISAAC BROCK "Dick" LUCAS: Born 12 Oct 1897, died
             28 Jun 1988.
             He married Adelaide Hayes.
             Isaac buried Markdale, Ont.
             They had 3 children. Robert & Stuart (Twins) and Shelagh.

             Isaac re-married Elsie Jane Rose, who died 7 Nov 1990.

             Isaac was a Lawyer, but he was better known World wide
             for his experimenting and the development of Dwarf Fruit
             Trees. He published a technical book in 1946 on this subject,
             which is now a standard work in North American Universities
             and Agricultural Colleges. 
             He was also the author of 3 other books, of a humorous
             nature.

 9. MARGARET ELLA "Madge" LUCAS: Born 1869, died 6 Mar
     1948, Long Beach, Calif. In 1899, she married Walter Turner.
     They had no children.

      Walter owned the Drug Store in Markdale, Ont., but moved to
      Toronto, Ont.

10.  JOHNSTON LUCAS: Born 1871, died 29 Sep 1936. He married
       Grace Bristow born 1875, died 1972.
       Johnston buried Markdale, Ont.
       They had 2 children. Margaret and Grace.

       In 1946, Grace re-married Thomas S. Cooper.

         (1) MARGARET LUCAS:  Married Archibald McQueen.
              At one time lived in Iroquois Falls, Ont.

         (2) GRACE LUCAS: Married C.L. Muir.
              They lived in Ottawa and in 1952 lived in Port Credit, Ont.
