I submit this application packet for your consideration in response to your request for applicants to fill the position of Instructional Lab Technician-Microcomputer at the Higher Education Center.
For the past 12 months, I have performed all the duties and responsibilities of this position as lead Instructional Lab Tech at the National City Higher Education Center. During this time, I have developed and established procedures and protocols to service maintain and operate a stable and functional computer system for both the Student and Administration domains and workgroups. I have provided assistance in the use of micro computing, peripherals and software to students, faculty and staff, as well as performed research on equipment price, compatibility and availability. I bring to the position the experience and dedication that have allowed me to continuously respond and meet the ever-changing computing needs of the center's staff, faculty and students.
Additionally, my background as a computer engineering major gives me the knowledge and understanding needed to stay current in a field that is constantly changing. Understanding the basic principles in software, hardware and network design and operation allows me to continually update my knowledge and skills.
My experience in the area of customer service and the constant contact with college students at this job and the ASO presidency afforded me with the ability to establish a rapport with students from diverse backgrounds. My bilingual skills also allow me to form a connection with students in a way they can understand and feel comfortable.
As a current member of this academic community, I have extensive knowledge of the college structure and mission. Not only do I believe in the mission of Southwestern College, but I also share the vision of the Higher Education Center.
