the
Molly Maguires CSC
For years the idea of a Philadelphia CSC was talked about in the various Irish bars around town, and always the same point came up. "Wait till Paddy gets his own bar."
Well in May '97 Paddy Rooney got his own bar and the dream of many Celtic minded people began to take shape. A meeting between Bobby Campbell (president), James Conboy (secretary) and Paddy Rooney (bar owner and vice-president) set in motion the ideas that were to become The Molly Maguires CSC.
To that small gang was added Andy McDonald (treasurer) and the commitee was set. Word was put out amongst like minded people that the club was up and running and members were urgently needed. The whole thing came together on the night of the Liverpool UEFA Cup home tie when Paddy Rooney's Pub played host to 50-60 Celtic men who cheered on the Bhoys late into the night.
Through that first traumatic season, we watched the Bhoys win the League Cuo, beat the huns and eventually go on to win the League for the first time since the great double winning Centenary year. Through this season, there were many great nights (and days!) in Paddy's Bar, celebrating Celtic victories.
Then came the clubs first representation at the AGM and Convention in Las Vegas, where all members in attendance had a great time. We even seen Elvis!!
So if you're ever in the neighbourhood, drop in for a pint !! We're a grand wee club, with a good bunch of Tims, and we hope to see some of you soon.
