Chapter 4

The Past.

         In order to understand the world of Valhalla it is necessary to understand it's past, what follows is a timetable with the most important events in that history. The reckoning is centered around the foundation of Midgaard. (BFM : Before the Foundation of Midgaard, AFM : After the Foundation of Midgaard).

863 BFM - The concept of time starts with Odins creation of Udgaard, and Asgaard. The gods of Asgaard pretty much leaves the mortals alone.

810 BFM - The first guild of Udgaard is founded. Several others quickly follow.

754 BFM - The men of Udgaard starts to search and clear the surrounding forests of orcs.

750 BFM - The Cypress forest is cleared of orcs, the ways to the great Plaines are opened, but not settled.

745 BFM - 'The Dark Age.' A period of over 600 years that lies sourrounded in compleate mystery. The legend says that this was the age of the black knights, however that information is most unreliable.

104 BFM - 'The wars of the old.' Great battles are fought in valhalla between the 'old races', perhaps it is because humans were not involved in these wars that they have grown so much in power.










65 BFM - The humans start farming and building on the plaines. The small villages will eventually melt together, and form Midgaard.

0 AFM - The foundation of Midgaard, King Tron is crowned as the first of the Kings of Midgaard.

7 AFM - The first contacts between the elves and the humans in Midgaard, an alliance is made against the orcs.

13 AFM - The brotherhood of the three kings is established, as the dwarf lords join the alliance with the elfs and humans.

21 AFM - Ancalador the elder son of Tiamat, starts to gather his forces of evil beings. At the same time King Tron is struck by a strange illness, that in the end will claim his life. Scroogy suspects that the two events are close connected.

22 AFM - Prince Cromwell, the son of King Tron is born in Midgaard, he is blessed in the shrine of Odin.

32 AFM - King Tron senses that his life is coming to an end. Prince Cromwell swears to his father that the cathedral will be finished.

39 AFM - King Tron dies in his bed at the rather young age of 55. The young Cromwell is crowned in the almost finished cathedral of Midgaard.

42 AFM - The first cathedral of midgaard is finished. The Holy Order of Odin is established by King Cromwell. The first set of walls around Midgaard are build, as well as the castle of Midgaard.











45 AFM - The first and smallest of Ancalador's armies strikes south and attacks the elves. The elves are victorious, but many of their warriors are killed, and only few towers are left untouched.

47 AFM - Levethyn the great traveler starts his quests for the legendary forest of Toshan.

51 AFM - A thousand goblins march down from the mountains and begins the 13 years of war with their ancient adversary, the dwarves.

59 AFM - A group of holy knights are attacked and destroyed by the old and evil green dragon Whasir, only one knight survives, his name was Sir Gehron.

62 AFM - The dwarven lords sends word to King Cromwell in Midgaard asking for his help against the numerous goblins.

64 AFM - King Cromwell and his holy knights breaks the siege of the dwarven fortress, ending the war with the goblin armies. The armies of Ancalador retreats to the back of the mountains.

65 AFM - Sir Gehron seeks out The evil dragon Whasir and kills him. 'Sir Gehron's holy quest' is the first record of a mortal man slaying a dragon.

71 AFM - King Cromwell send his holy knights out on patrols from Midgaard. Most people believe the wars to be over for good.

72 AFM - King Cromwell's wife Rowan dies while giving birth to their son. King Cromwell is struck by grief, and names his son Ethel (The elven word for sorrow).











83 AFM - King Cromwell sends his young son in exile after receiving several bad omens.

84 AFM - His army rebuild, Ancalador unleashes his wrath on the low-lands again. Marching towards Midgaard, he destroys several halfling and human villages.

85 AFM - The great war starts, with the clashing of the armies of Ancalador and Cromwell. The bloody battle saw the death of Cromwell and the retreat of the armies of good. Even Ancalador himself was wounded.

89 AFM - The turning point of the war. Prince Ethel is returned from his exile by a group of holy knights, bringing hope to the warriors of good.

90 AFM - The end of the great war as the forces of evil and Ancalador himself are destroyed at the gates of Midgaard.

99 AFM - At the age of 27 Prince Ethel is finally crowned as king after his father, he immediately orders the rebuilding of the cathedral and the rest of Midgaard.

105 AFM - King Ethel starts the construction of the walls around the new Midgaard.

110 AFM - The city walls are completed, king Ethel leaves Midgaard on one of frequent visits to the elven towers.

114 AFM - King Ethels son Prince Welmar is born in Midgaard.

123 AFM - Levethyn returns from his journeys with good news. The elven lords begin making plans for the great exile at once.











124 AFM - The elves leave their towers in the woods, seeking solitude from the other races. King Ethel join them in their exile never to be seen again. Midgaard is ruled by Eron the Wise, the kings advisor, until Prince Welmar is old enough.

130 AFM - Eron the Wise declares himself as king, Prince Welmar is held captive in his own castle. The next six years are marked with oppression and taxation.

136 AFM - Prince Welmar is crowned in the cathedral of Midgaard, and Eron the Wise is locked up by the city guards.

145 AFM - A 'new' elven nation is discovered to the south-west of Udgaard. They declare themselves superior to other races, and refuses to join the brotherhood of the three kings.

151 AFM - The dwarves of Kharosh-Naobir are offended and declare war on the elven nation. King Welmar remains neutral.

163 AFM - Tension between the dwarfs and the elfs are rising. King Welmar orders the construction of the Kings Road.

169 AFM - The first and to this date only confrontation between elf and dwarf armies. The battle is inconclusive.

174 AFM - The 'Haon-Dor treaty' is signed, relative peace in Valhalla.

180 AFM - Present time
