KEEP SURNAMES CHAUVINIST!

           Some college students are saying that it is “chauvinist” that American wives often choose to take their husband's last name. Fine. Let me make a suggestion: Every kid should have both parents' last names.


           Generation 1: John Smith marries Susan Jones and their kid is Jack Smith-Jones. Richard Lewis marries Alice Walker and give birth to Alicia Lewis-Walker.


            Generation 2: Jack Smith-Jones marries Alicia Lewis-Walker and their kid is Steven Smith-Jones-Lewis-Walker.


            Generation 3: Steven Smith-Jones-Lewis-Walker falls in love with and marries (third generation) Angela Jackson-Goldstein-Maxfield-Harriman. Their kid would then be Alex Smith-Jones-Lewis-Walker-Jackson-Goldstein-Maxfield-Harriman.


            Do those college students want everyone to have last names like that?
