FAREWELL

Flighty overgrown birds fly through the sky
singing their desperate song asking, "Why?"
Soaring through the air they want to turn back,
but they know it's time, time to end the pact--
the one that held them so close and so sweet.
It's now being shattered by crushing feet.
The birds look to each other and sigh deep.
They then part ways, with a secret to keep,
and slowly descend to land on the ground,
with new freedom and spirit they have found.

I wanna go home!
