Somebody has to bring Justice to the SWL
What Better Time Than Now for.....
Charlie Watkins - Fans, here we are in Detroit, Michigan for Prevailing Justice 2000. I'm here beside Terry Hogan, as always, and we are about to kick things up into second gear here. All three singles titles are up for grabs tonight, and no one appears to have any advantage in any of those matches.
Terry Hogan - Well, except for Janus and Spades who have the Wrecking Crew to back them up.
Charlie Watkins - Do you forget that Kid has The Regulators and that Janus is fighting TWO men for his Spotlight Title.... in a CAGE?
Terry Hogan - I know perfectly well what the card looks like tonight. We are sure in for some great matches.
Charlie Watkins - Although, there are relatively few matches for this card, we have that RB Burns Memorial Battle Royal. That should be fun to watch.
Terry Hogan - It's for bragging rights is what it is. Not that there is anything wrong with that as I do my fair share of that myself.
Charlie Watkins - How about that Quasar match between The Ghost from Nowhere and "Luscious" Lawrence Rhodes?
Terry Hogan - Although Rhodes picked up the Most Improved Award last night, I don't know if he has gas in his tank for this one. He just hasn't seemed up to par lately. While on the other hand, Ghost has been running through the SWL like a herd of Buffalo.... granted he is only one guy, but I have heard the rumblings.
Charlie Watkins - By putting your ear to the ground, no doubt. Maybe you don't see the fact that Rhodes has been the calm before the storm. You can't count him out as he has continually stepped up on occasions like this. But talk about stepping up..... Grinnin and The Vindicator. A lot of deep feelings there that go way back.
Terry Hogan - These two have had a history LONG before Brian Williams ever came up with the idea of Stars Wrestling Limited. The Grinman feels that he needs to finish this once and for all with The Vindicator.
Charlie Watkins - And our Main Event tonight. The World Title match between "Mr. Vegas" Johnny Spades and "The Kid" Billy Rock. These two have just recenlty been going at it as Johnny Spades is just now getting this shot at the title that he was promised when he won the Shooting Star Tournament.
Terry Hogan - It was a combination of being in the right place at the right time and just plain skill. He has taken the reigns of the Wrecking Crew and has led them to do his bidding. Grinnin has stepped into the background and has let Spades lead. This is his chance to step completely out of Grinnin's shadow and take the SWL to a different level.
Charlie Watkins - But one Billy Rock stands in his way. Rock feels he has gotten no respect as champion, and a win today would solidify his status as the best World Champion the SWL has ever had. He has held the title since April 23, so he has been champ for over 4 and a half months. Do you think it's time that someone knocked him off his pedastal?
Terry Hogan - I think it's put up or shut up. Spades....
(A threatening darkness swallows
the arena. Seconds later a melodic chime creeps out of the blackness.
Blue and orange tints are added as white stars begin sweeping through the
crowd. And just as we hear the roaring "WHATEVER IT TAKES!!!", "The
Kid" Billy Rock steps into the aisle. His carmel blonde, shoulder
length hair damply swings over his lightly bearded face. The Kid
remains still, settling his eyes on various fans near the aisle while a
grim mood is smeared across his face. Then, in unision with the first
string of lyrics, The Kid walks the aisle while his chest menacingly heaves.
He climbs into the ring and scales one of the posts. While there he steps
on the top rope and keeps his other foot on the second. The Kid snaps
his head backward, slinging the wet hair out of his face. His eyes
slither across the arena and through the fans, then he lifts one fist into
the sky for a matter of seconds before climbing down,
accepting the mic from Anna Dea,
and standing in the center of the ring. He speaks in a gruff, gravely tone
... )
The Kid - Kill the damn music.
was reel me in tonight. One
mistake you never wanna make is assuming that The Kid didn't come prepared.
You think you weren't expected? I'm not a stupid man. I knew
you were gonna make that final bid to watch me limp into Prevailing Justice!
So what I did last week was give you just enough rope to hang yourself.
And if you'll divert your eyes toward the aisle I'll introduce you to the
man who tightened the noose!
(The Kid turns his attention toward the aisle and points toward the ramp ... )
The Kid - I GIVE YOU "THE REGULATOR" ... BRET ... REAL!!
(The crowd erupts as the lights
go out in the arena and "Bulls on Parade" by Rage Against The Machine begins
to play. Bret Real makes his way from
the back stage area and stands
with two fists in the air in the midst of the blue haze of lights and smoke
that have filled the entranceway. He is wearing a pear of black jeans,
a white tee shirt and a three-quarter-length black leather jacket. Despite
being absent for several months, he looks like he hasnít changed
a bit. He even still wears that patented smirk on his face.)
(Real scans the crowd twice over and then proceeds to make his way to the ring while pointing and talking in the direction of Billy Rock who is in the ring awaiting him.)
(Once in the ring, The Kid and Bret engage in a hug. Billy passes him the stick ... )
Bret Real - Man... it's true what they say. The more things change... the more things stay the same. It's been months since I've been outta the game, yet I come back to find out that... one (Real raises his index finger)... Billy's still World Champion. And two... (Real raises his middle finger)... Grinnin is still a bitch - only now he's recruiting some pansies to keep him company. Well, as we all saw last week on Shockwave, all three of you were keeping each other company - only it was in the middle of the ring with your lights out! (Pop!)
(Real looks over at Billy and they exchange a chuckle.)
Bret Real - Now, Grinnin...
before you and your Weeping Crew go crying foul about The Real Deal being
back in the SWL, let me make something perfectly
clear. I am not back in the
SWL. Check the roster, my boy, and you will see that Bret Real is
a man of his word. I will no longer wrestle in the SWL. BUT...
(Real pulls a piece of paper out of his inner coat pocket)... there were
no stipulations in our Last Man Standing Match that prohibit me from becoming
someone's "special enforcer"
(Another pop from the crowd).
Bret Real - So Grinnin... Spades... and whoever else is in that revolving-door-having club of yours... As you can see, I'm not here to fight... I'm here to regulate. So if I see some foul play taken against Billy here in his match tonight like I saw being done last week... prepare to pay the price. And as always... it's going to be steep.
(Real gives the mic to Rock ... )
The Kid - By the lack of gold I've seen you with lately, I don't think you can afford to pay Bret's toll, Johnny! So my best advice to you would be to rely on your own hatred for The Kid to get you through the night!
(The Kid stomps toward the ropes and sticks his face in the camera ... )
The Kid - This ain't your night to shine, boy, 'cause what you are is a flash in the pan. You may believe that you're already a superstar, that the name Johnny Spades means anything beyond the alt.beastiality.pictures newsgroups. You've probably been convinced that winning that Shooting Star Tournament made you famous.
(The Kid smirks and nods ... )
The Kid - No, son. That's what they pointed you to me for.
(The Kid drops the mic and walks side by side with Bret up the aisle as "Bulls On Parade" by Rage Against The Machine plays ... )
Charlie Watkins - It appears that Billy Rock is ready for tonight. Will Spades be ready?
Terry Hogan - The biggest match of his career.... OF COURSE he will be ready.
(The lights go down and a Guitar chimes a chord and the fans know instantly that Kevin Steele awaits on the other side of the curtain... The Guitar chimes another chord and is met with a Bass tempo, and a piano chimes in as the music starts to go a bit faster. the theme of Phantom of the Opera begins in full swing then as a firebomb flashes on either side of the stage, and Kevin Steele, with Melina on his arm walks through the curtain and makes his way down to the ring. They roll in under the ropes, and Kevin calls for a mic.)
Charlie Watkins - It appears Kevin Steele isn't quite ready for his match today as he has something to say.
(A ringside cameraman throws a mic into him and he catches it with ease as he looks around the arena, the crowd, and the staff of the SWL on the one night that he has been waiting for for weeks, Prevailing Justice. His first ever PPV.)
Kevin Steele - Now I don't
know about you fans, but I am itching to get back into the ring.
I have been in the back for weeks now, watching matches go one and people
get new belts and all kinds of shit happen in this ring, and i have not
been a single part of any of that... Well with the exception of busting
Cage's head open twice in one night two weeks ago! I was supposed
to have a match with Billy Rock that night, on Sunday Night Shockwave.
He came out and
wanted to grow some balls and show
us both up! He canceled my match that night. It was the biggest
match of my career and he just up and cancelled it!
(Kevin Steele paces around the ring a bit, and then looks at the crowd as he brings the mic to his mouth again to continue.)
Kevin Steele - No... He didn't cancel it. He never planned on having it. Cage was toying with me! He just wanted to show me that he has some power. Just wanted to show me up! Now. This week, I was supposed to have a match. One on One with "the Man", the Franchise", Micheal Cage."
(The crowd gives mixed reactions while he waits on the arena to settle down.)
Kevin Steele - Now I find
out just the other day, that he is not even going to have that match, since
Mr. Cage wants to have a Battle Royal tonight, on the first Pay Per View
i have ever been in. Another career defining moment driving into
the ground by Cage! You know what Cage...? You had better hope
my name
isn't called out tonight for that
Battle Royal you have planned, and I know it will be. If it isn't,
i will find you tonight, and take out all the frustration of the last month
I have not touched foot into the ring out on you all at once. I am
tired of playing with you Cage, and I am tired of being played with!
And if my name is called, then you had better hope yours isn't in the hat!
I refuse to allow myself to be beaten in this Battle Royal tonight... if
you even let me in it. I will show all of you back in the back, sitting
in your pretty little office that I am not to be ignored. That I
am a force here in the SWL to be reckoned with!
Charlie Watkins - He doesn't seem to be too pleased that he is in this Battle Royal.
Terry Hogan - Would you be if you had a chance to tear apart the person who you hated the most?
Kevin Steele - Matter of fact, I have to say, since coming here I have been something of a demolition crew here. I took out Johnny Wonderful, in my very first match here, and no one heard from him again! I was counted as a loss in a four way Elimination Match whene Malice pinned Kritical Kondition, who has never been heard of again. Ever since, I have been hunting the men who were responsible for the lose I have suffered here, and you Micheal Cage have stood defiantly in my way of that goal! You gave me one of the men who aided in my lose. You gave me Ty Shun Ho, who is now the Tag Team Champion, and I beat that night. The thing is, I never really beat him. He just didn't make it back to the ring after the beating I handed him at ringside! So you see Cage, I am not so happy, since all of the matches I have had here, save for one, I have been nothing more than a play toy for you and for Brian Williams!
Charlie Watkins - Brian Williams has had nothing to do with that! He left all booking decisions up to Micheal Cage!
Kevin Steele - I look to
decimate the entirety of the SWL tonight in this Battle Royal, wether I
am in it or not. And so help me God... if I do not get placed in
the Battle Royal, I will hold you personally responsible for my name not
making it to the ring, and I will not let you make it out of this arena
tonight! I will show you all that I am NO ONE'S playtoy! I
am not a pawn to be played with at your leisure, and I am damned sure not
someone who is willing to stand back
and be ignored!!!
(Kevin throws the mic to the outside of the ring as his music starts and firbombs explode from the ring posts and he makes his way to the entrance ramp once again.)
Terry Hogan - He's got that fire. If he is in this Battle Royal, I'd watch out for him tonight.
Charlie Watkins - Let's get
down to Anna Dea for that Battle Royal.
Battle Royal
For the 1st Annual
RB Burns Memorial Cup
Anna Dea - Ladies and Gentlemen the following contest is the opening event of Prevaling Justice. It is for the RB Burns memorial cup...
(Two men carry the trophy down to the ring while Anna Dea continues)
...16 men will start the contest
under over the top battle royal format down to the last two men. Then the
last two men will then compete one on one. Whoever
gets the pinfall, submission, or
DQ will be $10,000 dollers richer and take home the first RB Burns memorial
cup. Let's meet the men who will compete...
(One by one the 16 compiters come down to the ring)
...Micheal Cage...Fred Dragoran...Kevin
Steele...The tag team champions Ty Shun Ho and Justin Arcola... Cycle Storm...Nikita
Morosov...Banshee...Total
Annilation Doom and Apocalypse...The
Squad, Tank and Star...Johnny Wonderful...No Limit, Chazz and Trazz...and
finally making his SWL debut Jett Jones.
(All 16 men are in the ring just
waiting to tear into each other as Anna Dea climbs out of the ring. Once
he climbs out of the ring the bell rings and the chaos
begins)
Charlie Watkins - Welcome fans to Prevailing Justice 2000. We are starting things off in a big way with this battle royal style match.
Terry Hogan - Yes Micheal Cage made this event last week and has placed SWL money on the line. He has to be the favorite in this match.
Charlie Watkins - You never know there are 15 other men in the ring who would love to get a piece of him.
Terry Hogan - Including Kevin Steele. I don't know what started all this but those two have developed a severe hatred towords each other.
(In the ring Kevin Steele and Micheal Cage have found each other and are battling. Arcola and Shun Ho, the Squad and Total Annilation have found each other. Chazz and Trazz are battling each other while the others are in a cluster battling each other)
Terry Hogan - This match has to favor the tag teams, they can work together untill the last part of the match.
Charlie Watkins - Well thats what it appears that they are doing now, including the tag champs who said that they wouldn't be teamates in this type of match.
(Chazz and Trazz continue to battle
each other very close to the ropes. Chazz has Trazz just about over the
top rope when Jett Jones comes over and tosses
them both over the top rope)
Anna Dea - At the 2:43 mark in this match both members have been eliminated.
Charlie Watkins - Well rumor has it that this may be the last time we see No Limit in the SWL let alone together.
Terry Hogan - Great there goes the tag division.
(Cage and Steele have finally been seperated as Cycle Storm has grabbed ahold of Steele. And From the other side Morosov has grabbed Micheal Cage. The Three tag teams remaining continue to battle. Dragoron, Banshee, Wonderful, and Jones are in a corner.)
Charlie Watkins - Uh oh we may have an elimination. It looks like Dragoron is being triple teamed.
Terry Hogan - Yeah but he has got ahold of Wonderful's coller.
(Finally they get Dragoron over the top and onto the floor. He drug Wonderful over the top with him)
Charlie Watkins - Your right Terry he took wonderful right over the top with him. Two more are gone.
Anna Dea - At the 6 minute mark Both Fred Dragoron and Johnny Wonderful have been eliminated.
Terry Hogan - This New Comer Jett Jones is playing it smart he has been staying out of the action as much as he can. With that kind of stratedgy he is my favorite.
(Banshee comes from behind Jones and attacks him and trys to throw him over the top rope. Doom walks up behind them and trys to throw them both over but is brocken up by Tank. Doom then turns around and focuses his attention to Tank. He is soon joined by Apocalypse. Total Annihalation double team Tank and throw him over the top rope. Tanks partner Star comes over and throws Doom over the top rope. Apocalypse then eliminates Star)
Terry Hogan - What action. This is great.
Anna Dea - At the 10:07 mark Star and Doom have been eliminated.
Charlie Watkins - And then there were nine.
Terry Hogan - Jones is still in there.
Charlie Watkins - Yes he is along with Cage and Steele who have been pounding on each other throughout this whole match. What hatred.
Terry Hogan - Arcola, Shun Ho, Apocalypse, Storm, Morosov, and Banshee are also left.
(Arcola, Shun Ho, Storm, and Morosov are battling in one corner. Banshee, Jones, and Apocalypse are in another while Cage and Steele continue to fight)
Terry Hogan - WE got action here, Apocalypse is about to go over, by none other than my favorite Banshee.
Charlie Watkins - I thought Cage was your favorite.
Terry Hogan - He is.
(Jones joins in the attempt to eliminate Apocalypse)
Terry Hogan - OH there he goes. Jones has done it.
Charlie Watkins - The celebration didn't last long. Banshee is trying to elimate Jett Jones now.
Terry Hogan - Here comes Arcola.
Charlie Watkins - There they both go.
(Arcola eliminates both men)
Anna Dea - At the 12:32 mark Apocalypse, Banshee, and Jett Jones have been elimated.
Terry Hogan - How many we got left?
Charlie Watkins - Cage, Steele, Morosov, Storm, and the tag champs. Thats six.
Terry Hogan - No Hold on...The Franchise is setting up Steele for the Penalty Shot.
(Cage gets him up into position but Steele Slides behind Cage and hooks him into a belly to back suplex.)
Charlie Watkins - No, he reversed it. Steele reversed it.
(Steele runs across the ring and comes flying off hard and nails Cage with a clothsline and sends Cage over the top rope elimating him)
Charlie Watkins - OH MY! Steele eliminated Cage! Steele elimated Cage!
Anna Dea - At the 14:46 mark Kevin Steel has eliminated Micheal Cage.
(Cage gets up and is very unhappy.
The refs confront him to go to the back but Cage throws them out of the
way and rolls back into the ring. He goes directly
towords Steele who meets him head
on. The other four stop and watch as Steele and Cage battle)
Charlie Watkins - What is he doing. He was elimated.
Terry Hogan - This isn't finished yet. Cage hates this young guy for some reason.
Charlie Watkins - What the hell is he doing...
(Cage grabs Steele and throws him over the top rope eliminating him)
...So much for the american hero. Cage has lost all respect he ever had. Williams relinquish this mans power.
Anna Dea - At the 15:03 mark Kevin Steele has been eliminated.
Terry Hogan - Hey these fans did this too him.
Charlie Watkins - What, Cage used to be a man of honor, now he has sunk to the level of the Wrecking Crew. Lets get back to the match.
(The four men in the ring each take a corner. Justin Arcola, Cycle Storm, Nikita Morosov, and Ty Shun Ho)
Terry Hogan - Oh this is going to get exciting.
(Arcola and Morosov hook up while Storm and Shun Ho lock horns as well. Storm and Shun Ho are very close to the ropes while the other two are in the middle of the ring. The ref has climbed in the ring to count the final pinfall)
Charlie Watkins - Storm and Shun Ho are so close to eliminating each other.
Terry Hogan - If i were in this match i would team up with one of the guys to get this down to two.
Charlie Watkins - I'm sure thats far from there minds at this point. Its every man for himself now.
Terry Hogan - Charlie, Storm and Shun Ho are on the ropes.
(Shun Ho clothslines Storm over
the top of the rope. Storm hits the floor while the momentum of the clothsline
sends Shun Ho to the apron but not the
floor.)
Charlie Watkins - Storm is gone. Storm is gone. There are three.
(Morosov irish whips Arcola into the rops where Shun Ho is standing. He crashes into Shun Ho sending him down the floor eliminating him)
Terry Hogan - Correction there are two. there are two.
Charlie Watkins - Its one on one now. Only pinfalls, submissions, and DQ's count now.
(A stunned Justin Arcola looks down
at his fallen tag team partner and reliezes that he just eliminated him.
Morosov sneaks up behind him and catches him in a
small package. The ref makes the
count)
Charlie Watkins - 1.....2......3.
Terry Hogan - Its over. The Russian Bear has won it. I picked him in the beginning.
Charlie Watkins - No you didn't. What a match.
Anna Dea - Ladies and Gentleman, At the 17:04 mark Nikita Morosov has pinned Justin Arcola. Your winner of this match and RB Burns Memorial cup winner The Russian Bear Nikita Morosov.
(Shun Ho begins to walk to the back
without his partner. Arcola follows behind him at a good distance. Both
have disgusted looks on there face as the Russian
Bear celebrates in the ring)
Charlie Watkins - That win could do wonders for The Russian Bear and could drive a wedge between the tag champs.
(As the match comes to an end "Show Me What You Got" by Limp Bizkit thunders through Joe Louis Arena bringing the thousands of fans in attendance to their feet in a sea of boos. The lights dim a little as purple strobe lights circle around the entranceway. The SWL Tron comes to life showing highlights of Johnny Spades and the boos get louder as the man steps out onto the entranceway wearing his wrestling attire and a black shirt cut "Outsider" style with the skull wearing a jokers cap on the front and the words "Don't Hate Greatness" on the back written in white old english. Spades studies the booing crowd through his chrome shades, shakes his head then walks down to the ring and climbs in. He climbs the turnbuckle and puts his muscular arms in the air getting a negative response. The lights come back on and as the music dies Johnny grabs a mic...............)
"Mr. Vegas" Johnny Spades - It's
funny (Spades pauses and rests his arms on the top rope with his left foot
resting on the bottom one.) After everything i have done. After giving
you the matches you only dreamed of before, still you people show your
stupidity and boo the soon to be World Heavyweight
champion. (crowd boos. Spades laughs
and continues) Billy Rock the time is slowly ticking away till finally
you will have to step into the ring with Johnny Spades and get your @ss
handed back to you. See Billy Rock after everything we have done to each
other it is finally time for the words to stop...and the action to begin.
After all the blood that has been spilled leading up to you your demise
i can promise you all that tonight more crimson will flow but it will be
all Billy Rock's. See Rock tonight you don't have your boys to back to
you up. I have already proven i don't need the Wrecking Crew to kick your
@ss. But you, you have pulled every trick you could think of out of your
@ss Billy Rock but now you have to be a man and face Johnny Spades man
to man. But that's the problem isn't it Billy. You cannot handle the fact
that now you must step through these ropes and show everyone just how truly
pathetic and weak you truly are. No Regulators to watch your back Rock,
no Brian Williams to pamper you, just you and me in the middle of this
damn ring (points a finger at the camera) and i can guarantee you Billy
Rock that you will not walk out on your own accord. It's time for the new
King to be crowned. It is time that the new over takes the old and sorry
to say Billy Rock, but you are very old and don't forget boring, news.
It is time for some fresh and exciting blood to take over SWL and
nobody on this damn planet is more
exciting the Johnny Spades. I have proven that i can beat anyone and everyone
and Billy Rock if you think your my hardest challenger then think again.
The fact is Rock, people think your so tough is because why me and guys
like Kevin Steele, Janus,Grinnin and even your puppet Vindicator are busting
are @sses day in and day out. You sit at home come in at the end of every
month and beat up some poor sap that has been wrestling non stop since
he got here. Well tonight it is not the same. Your not a 100%, i'm not
100% but i know for a fact that i still have enough left to tear down your
legacy in front of all your mindless fans. You should be glad i'm not a
100% Rock cause at least that way you won't look to bad when i totally
out class you in this very ring. Your fate is sealed Billy Rock. your doomsday
has arrived and you people better get used to seeing Johnny spades with
the SWL Heavyweight championship around his waist. Remember folks don't
hate Greatness and Billy Rock you remember that you gave it your all...but
your all wasn't good enough to beat Johnny Spades!
("Show Me What You Got" blares through the building again as Johnny spades exits the ring and heads to the back.)
Charlie Watkins - Well, Spades
gets to show if he is up to the challenge in our main event tonight.
But that's later, first we have this cage match to get through.
Jason "The Bandit"
Blake vs. MOB Squad vs. Janus
Three-Way Hell
in a Cell Match
(SWL Spotlight
Title Match)
Anna Dea - Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest, scheduled for one fall, is a Three-Way Match for the SWL Spotlight Championship! And…it will be conducted inside…the Hell in a Cell!
[The crowd rises to its feet as the cage begins to lower from the ceiling.]
Charlie Watkins - This one could steal the show, folks!
Anna Dea - Introducing first, weighing in at 317 pounds, from Australia, MOB Squad!!!
[MOB Squad walks down to the aisle and examines the cage. He enters through the door and stands rested in the corner of the ring.]
Anna Dea - His opponent, accompanied by his manager, "Electric" Amy Sparks, from Chicago, Illinois, weighing 218 pounds, Jason "The Bandit" Blake!
[The lights in the arena turn a pale blue. "Move Your Body" by Eiffel 65 begins to blare throughout the arena as Jason Blake and Amy Sparks step out from the entranceway. Blake runs to the ring, high-fiving as many fans as possible with Amy walking casually, smiling at all the fans.]
Anna Dea - And their opponent, from Rome, Italy, weighing in at 285 pounds, the SWL Spotlight champion, Janus!
["When Worlds Collide" by Powerman 5000 hits as Janus comes out in a dark gray robe. His hood remains on until his music stops. He removes his hood and stares down his opponents in the ring, then tosses the robe aside, unclasps the belt from his waist and begins to climb the side of the cage. Upon reaching the top he hangs on to the side with one hand and holds the belt high above his head with the other in a magnificent looking photo op.]
Charlie Watkins - Janus with a psychological ploy there.
Terry Hogan - He’s letting everyone know that his championship reign is well deserved.
[Janus tosses the belt to the timekeeper and climbs back down to the floor. He enters through the door and it is chained shut.]
Charlie Watkins - There’s no way in or out of this cell, ladies and gentlemen.
Terry Hogan - Once and for all, we will have an undisputed victor in this rivalry.
(The Jumbotron comes on and shows a masked man tying a bungee cord to the Wrecking Crew's dressing room door. The man then ties the other end to a door across the hall before running off.)
Charlie Watkins - It looks as though someone doesn't want the Wrecking Crew to interfere.
[The opening bell rings. Janus immediately lays into MOB Squad with right hands.]
Charlie Watkins - No love lost there.
[Janus whips MOB Squad into the ropes, but the whip is reversed by MOB Squad. MOB Squad hits Janus with a big foot to the face. In the background, Blake is seen climbing the turnbuckle.]
Terry Hogan - MOB Squad, look out behind you!
[Blake comes off the turnbuckle with a missile dropkick to the back of the head of MOB Squad, knocking him down. Janus gets up and hooks Blake into a reverse DDT. He drops an elbow on MOB Squad and goes for a pin on Blake, but only gets one.]
Terry Hogan - Jason Blake is going to be in trouble with these two big men if he doesn’t start moving.
[Janus picks up Blake and whips him into the ropes. Blake ducks Janus’ clothesline and Janus runs to the opposite ropes. Blake is lightning-quick, however, and hits Janus with a running dropkick that sends Janus to the outside. MOB Squad appears suddenly and military presses Blake. He throws Blake onto Janus on the outside as Janus is getting up. MOB Squad steps through the ropes to the outside.]
Charlie Watkins - This one is quickly becoming dangerous.
[Janus uses Blake’s head as a battering ram and slams him into the side of the cage. MOB Squad is seen in the background hunting around the ring for something. He comes out with a steel chair.]
Charlie Watkins - MOB Squad can do some damage with that.
Terry Hogan - Why exactly do we keep chairs under the ring anyway?
[MOB Squad swings at Janus with the chair, but Janus blocks it. He kicks MOB Squad in the midsection and takes the chair away. Janus levels MOB Squad with the chair. He aims at Blake, who is slowly getting up. He takes a wild swing at Blake, but Blake ducks it and Janus takes out a section of the chain links on the side of the cage. He spins around and Blake dropkicks the chair into Janus’ face. Janus stumbles backward and falls through the dent in the side of the cage, taking out the entire section of the cage.]
Terry Hogan - Did you see that, Charlie?
Charlie Watkins - Janus has opened a path to the outside of the cage. I don’t like the looks of this.
[MOB Squad grabs Blake and whips him into the steel steps. He picks up a section of the steps and positions them near the ring apron. He pulls Blake over and sets him up on the first step. MOB Squad goes for a piledriver, but out of nowhere, Janus connects with a running clothesline that sends MOB Squad into the ringpost.]
Charlie Watkins - These men are shortening their careers as we speak.
[Blake stumbles to the outside of the cage. He begins to climb the side.]
Charlie Watkins - What is he thinking?
Terry Hogan - Blake might just be looking for the only safe place in this match.
[MOB Squad reverses an Irish whip from Janus and sends Janus into one of the intact sides of the cage. MOB Squad grabs Janus and lifts him high in the air with a stalling suplex.]
Charlie Watkins - No…he won’t do it. That’s insane!
[MOB Squad delivers the screwdriver on Janus on the floor.]
Charlie Watkins - Oh my God! Janus might be out of this match.
Terry Hogan - Forget out of the match; Janus might be dead! We need help out here for him…I mean it.
[MOB Squad notices Jason Blake on top of the cage taunting him. He considers Janus, but sees that he is out cold and barely breathing and decides to come back for him later. He walks through the hole in the cage and begins to climb the side. The crowd comes to their feet.]
Charlie Watkins - If you thought this was dangerous before, you haven’t seen anything yet.
Terry Hogan - There’s about to be a confrontation on top of the cage.
[MOB Squad reaches the top of the cage and is met with right hands from Blake. Blake and Squad jockey for position and Squad ends up with the advantage. MOB Squad bodyslams Blake on the cage. The cage begins to bed and sway under the impact. MOB Squad gives a signal to the crowd and charges Blake. He spears Blake and the impact on the roof of the cage finally forces it to give way.]
Terry Hogan - (forgetting he is on-mic)– Holy s***!
[The two competitors plummet towards the mat. Instinctively, however, Blake gets a death grip on the hanging section and holds himself up. MOB Squad is not so lucky. He loses his grip on Blake, falls, and collides with the mat in an awesome impact.]
Charlie Watkins - My God! My God! They’ve broken through the cage! MOB Squad has fallen 15 feet through the cage to the mat below!
Terry Hogan - Someone get help out here fast!
[MOB Squad does not move. Blake desperately pulls himself up the broken section of the cage and to the top, where he takes a moment to rest. There is a hushed silence over the crowd.]
Charlie Watkins - Jason Blake crawling on top of the cage…he might be the only one who comes out of this match alive!
[Janus is seen struggling to his feet and into the ring. He makes his way towards MOB Squad, who is still not moving.]
Terry Hogan - How is Janus still walking, Charlie?
Charlie Watkins - I have no idea, but MOB Squad is still down.
[Janus picks up MOB Squad, but MOB Squad is dead weight. After a few seconds, Janus is able to hit The End, as Jason Blake is seen standing near the hole in the roof.]
Charlie Watkins - Janus with The End, but I think MOB Squad was out of this match a while ago.
[Janus goes for a cover…1…2…BAM! Jason Blake has come flying off the top of the cage with the Blindsider on Janus.]
Charlie Watkins - Good God! Blindsider off the top of the cage onto Janus!
Terry Hogan - Can you believe this, Charlie?
Charlie Watkins - These 3 men are taking every chance in the book.
Terry Hogan - No title…no amount of pride…no personal rivalry…nothing at all is worth what these three athletes are doing to their bodies tonight.
[Blake makes the pin on the prone MOB Squad…1…2…3!!!]
Anna Dea - The winner of this match…and NEW SWL Spotlight Champion…Jason "The Bandit" Blake!
Charlie Watkins - Jason Blake wins an incredible battle of will and intestinal fortitude and becomes the new Spotlight Champion.
Terry Hogan - And you can bet that title’s going places it’s never been before. But in all seriousness, these three men need help big time.
[EMTs rush down to the ring and load Janus and MOB Squad onto stretchers. "Electric" Amy Sparks attends to Blake and helps him to his feet. The cage is raised. The EMTs take Janus and MOB Squad to the back to round after round of applause.]
Charlie Watkins - The fans giving these men a standing ovation, and they sure as hell deserve it.
Terry Hogan - Absolutely, Charlie. And if anyone at home watching this right now isn’t on their feet out of respect for the effort that these three, like them or not, gave them tonight, then they don’t deserve to call themselves wrestling fans.
[Amy Sparks has Blake draped over her shoulder and helps him to his feet.]
Charlie Watkins - Go ahead, Jason. If you’ve got it in you…go ahead and celebrate.
[Blake raises his newly acquired title over his head and looks upward. The crowd goes wild with applause.]
Terry Hogan - I hate to say it, Charlie, but after tonight, that man standing in the ring right now deserves to wear that title around his waist. It could have gone down any way, but Blake was the better man tonight.
Charlie Watkins - Well, ladies
and gentlemen, that one will be a tough act to follow, but up next, we’ve
got a heated rivalry for the Quasar title that’s coming to a head right
here in Detroit. The Ghost From No Where defends his belt against "Luscious"
Lawrence Rhodes.
The Ghost From
Nowhere vs. "Luscious" Lawrence Rhodes
SWL Quasar Championship
Anna Dea - The following contest, scheduled for one fall, is for the SWL Quasar Championship! Introducing first, the challenger, weighing in at 293 pounds, from London, England a member of The Regulators, "Luscious" Lawrence Rhodes!!!
[The Prodigy Mix of Methodmans "Release Yo' delf" echoes around the arena. A yellowish haze lights the entrance as Rhodes appears with his hands on hips. He gives a cheesy grin and enters the ring.]
Anna Dea - And his opponent, from Parts Unknown, accompanied by Resurrection Mary, weighing in at 234 pounds, the SWL Quasar Champion, the Ghost From No Where!
[The Ghost From No Where and Resurrection Mary make their way to the ring.]
Charlie Watkins - Both men with a huge opportunity to shine here at Prevailing Justice.
[The opening bell rings. The two men trade right hands in the center of the ring.]
Terry Hogan - Nothing fancy or technical there; both men seem intent on putting this one away quickly.
[Rhodes muscles the Ghost into the corner. He climbs the turnbuckle and begins to punch Ghost repeatedly, but Ghost leverages Rhodes over the top rope to the apron. Rhodes however, grabs the front of Ghost’s head and slams the back of it into the turnbuckle.]
Terry Hogan - You can see the aggressiveness coming out here.
[Rhodes steps through the ropes, but is met with a kick to the midsection from the Ghost. The Ghost whips Rhodes into the ropes and hits him with a flying forearm. Rhodes gets up a little dazed and Ghost puts on a front facelock. He goes for a DDT, but Rhodes counters into a Northern Lights Suplex. He bridges into a pin, but only gets one.]
Charlie Watkins - It’s WAY to early for that, Rhodes.
[Rhodes whips Ghost into the ropes and delivers a spinebuster. He picks up Ghost and military presses him.]
Charlie Watkins - Rhodes obviously has the size and strength in this match.
[Ghost gives Rhodes a thumb to the eye and Rhodes drops him. Ghost comes off the ropes with a flying calf kick that takes the big man down. Rhodes is quickly back to his feet, though. Ghost attempts a bodyslam but can’t lift Rhodes. Rhodes shifts his position and delivers a jumping piledriver to Ghost. He goes for a pin, but Ghost kicks out at two.]
Charlie Watkins - At this point, it appears that the Ghost From No Where is simply outmatched.
Terry Hogan - He is in the ring with one of the best, Charlie.
[Rhodes taunts Ghost, who is still on the mat. He gets a little too close, however, and Ghost takes him to the mat with a single leg takedown. Ghost gets up quickly and hooks Rhodes into the figure-four leglock.]
Terry Hogan - What?
Charlie Watkins - It’s the Ghost Buster! That came out of nowhere.
Terry Hogan - This match just took a HUGE turn.
[Rhodes fights against the pressure, but cannot break the hold. He reaches for the ropes, but finds himself in the middle of the ring. He pushes himself up to a sitting position, measures the Ghost, and punches him directly in the center of the chest. Ghost releases the hold and finds it hard to breathe.]
Charlie Watkins - The heart punch! We haven’t seen that since the 1980s!
Terry Hogan - (sarcastically) – Smart wrestling move. Punched his way out.
[Ghost labors to get to his feet. Rhodes applies a front facelock and lifts Ghost high into the air. Rhodes delivers a running powerslam.]
Charlie Watkins - There it is! One For The Ladies.
Terry Hogan - What ladies? We’re in Detroit.
[Rhodes makes the pin…1…2…3!!!]
Anna Dea - The winner of this match…and NEW SWL Quasar Champion, "Luscious" Lawrence Rhodes!
Charlie Watkins - And Rhodes picks up a HUGE victory here at Prevailing Justice.
Terry Hogan - Tonight was definitely Rhodes’s night. He was unbeatable.
[The SWL ring crew begins to assemble the steel cage around the ring apron.]
Charlie Watkins - Coming up next, we’ve got another big time match. This one will be a regular cage match…
Terry Hogan - …if you can call any sort of cage match "regular".
Charlie Watkins - It’ll be
a 60-minute Iron Man Match between two of the best in the SWL, Grinnin
and the Vindicator.
Grinnin vs. Vindicator
60-Minute Iron
Man Cage Match
Anna Dea - Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest is an Iron Man Match to be conducted in a steel cage!
[Big time crowd reaction.]
Anna Dea - Here are the rules. The match will last for 60 minutes. For the first 25 minutes, no decisions will be rendered. Afterwards, falls can be decided through pinfall or submission. No decisions will be rendered for exiting the cage. The man with the most decisions at the end of sixty minutes will be declared the undisputed victor!
Charlie Watkins - Another big time cage match pitting two of the very best in the SWL against each other.
Anna Dea - Introducing first, the special guest referee, "The Franchise" Michael Cage!
[Skillets "Locked in a Cage" begins to play over the PA system. Cage is wearing a black and white referee’s shirt with the words, "Steel Cage". He slowly walks down to the ring as the crowd boos him and takes his place in a chair by the timekeeper’s table.]
Charlie Watkins - Michael Cage will be an observer for the first 25 minutes as no falls will be rendered.
Terry Hogan - But what actual role will he play once the 25 minutes are over?
Charlie Watkins - That remains to be seen.
Anna Dea - The first participant, weighing in at 245 pounds, from Gainesville, FL a member of The Regulators, The Vindicator!!!
[A giant V appears on the Jumbo Tron and the lights go out. "My Own Prison" by Creed begins to play as green lasers light the arena and the Vindicator can be seen in the entryway. He walks out a little way and stops. There is a large explosion and the Vindicator runs to the ring. He climbs up the side of the cage and raises his arm above his head to a huge crowd reaction.]
Anna Dea - His opponent, he hails from Toronto, Canada and weighs in at an even 283lbs. A former SWL World Champion and the SWL's Most Notorious Man. Here is GRINNIN!!!!
[The first bars of "Sad but True" by Metallica play. The music pauses briefly. A pyro goes off in front of the ramp and two sets of fireworks explode in the rafters. Grinnin walks out all business with a completely unreadable face. He steps through the door of the cage and walks to the center of the ring. Vindicator steps right up to him and stares him down face-to-face.]
Charlie Watkins - This is going to be a classic confrontation.
[Time remaining - 60:00]
[The bell rings. Grinnin and Vindicator circle each other. They tie up and Grinnin puts on a side headlock. Vindicator tries to shoot Grinnin into the ropes, but Grinnin holds on to Vindicator’s hair and reapplies the headlock. Vindicator plants his feet and delivers a back suplex.]
Charlie Watkins - Both men starting out slowly and cautiously here.
Terry Hogan - In a 60-minute match, you can’t afford to go at it full throttle right away.
[Vindicator applies an arm wrench and delivers several shoulder thrusts while holding on to Grinnin’s arm. Grinnin again grabs the hair and forces Vindicator into the corner. Grinnin whips Vindicator into the opposite corner and charges, but Vindicator catches him with a reverse elbow. Vindicator grabs the back of Grinnin’s head and tries to slam it into the cage, but Grinnin gets his foot up to block it. Grinnin elbows Vindicator in the midsection and slams Vindicator’s face into the cage.]
Charlie Watkins - The cage beginning to become a factor already.
[Time remaining – 56:43]
[Grinnin places Vindicator in the corner again and ascends to the second turnbuckle. Grinnin punches Vindicator several times, but Vindicator pushes him off and Grinnin lands on his head. Vindicator quickly jumps to the second turnbuckle and comes flying off with an elbow smash. Vindicator applies a luchar armbar.]
Terry Hogan - Smart strategy by Vindicator; it allow him to pace himself while wearing down Grinnin at the same time.
[Time remaining – 55:07]
[After a few minutes, Grinnin has made it to a sitting position, with the armbar still applied. He stands and kicks Vindicator in the groin.]
Charlie Watkins - Cheap shot.
Terry Hogan - I think all rules are a moot point in this type of a match.
[Time remaining – 51:53]
[Grinnin takes Vindicator towards the side of the cage. He sets Vindicator up for a powerbomb, but instead of simply driving him into the mat, he brings Vindicator down horizontally so that the back of his head impacts with the cage.]
Charlie Watkins - Grinnin again using the cage to his advantage in a very unorthodox manner.
Terry Hogan - Say what you will, it worked.
[Grinnin whips Vindicator into the ropes and lowers his head. Vindicator sees it, slides under Grinnin, and punches him in the face. Vindicator gets up and executes a swinging neckbreaker.]
[Time remaining – 50:00]
Terry Hogan - We’re 10 minutes into the match; at the rate these guys are going I can’t possibly see how they’ll last sixty.
[Vindicator hooks Grinnin into an attempted DDT, but Grinnin counters with a Northern Lights Suplex. Grinnin quickly floats over and applies a rear chinlock.]
Charlie Watkins - Interesting now; we see Grinnin going for the wear-down hold.
Terry Hogan - He might need an opportunity to catch his breath; they have been going pretty strong and we’re less than a quarter of the way through.
[Time remaining – 47:47]
[Grinnin releases the chinlock and pulls Vindicator to his feet. Grinnin bodyslams Vindicator and comes off the ropes with an elbow drop. He runs into the ropes again and goes for a leg drop, but Vindicator moves out of the way. Grinnin gets up slowly and Vindicator spins around with a back kick to the midsection of Grinnin. Vindicator comes off the ropes with a running knee lift. Vindicator steps out to the apron between the ropes and the cage. He slingshots over the top with a clothesline as Grinnin gets to his feet. Vindicator grabs Grinnin and rams him into the cage. Vindicator drags Grinnin to the center of the ring and applies a spinning toe hold.]
Charlie Watkins - Vindicator again following up a series of high-impact moves with a wear-down hold.
Terry Hogan - A match like this just proves that even the biggest, badest, and toughest guys have to fall back on basic wrestling to be successful.
[Time remaining – 42:31]
[Vindicator briefly loses his grip on the toe hold and attempts to spin again to reapply it. Grinnin seizes the moment and pushes Vindicator off with his boot. Vindicator’s upper body impacts with the cage. Grinnin hooks Vindicator into an atomic drop and follows it up with a Russian leg sweep.]
Charlie Watkins - Both men pulling out all the stops while at the same time being careful to pace themselves.
Terry Hogan - We’re almost 5 minutes away from Michael Cage making his presence felt in this match.
[Time remaining – 40:00]
[Grinnin hooks Vindicator into a full nelson and lifts Vindicator high into the air before slamming him to the mat. Grinnin taunts the crowd, which boos him in return. He ascends to the top rope and dives off with a flying headbutt, but Vindicator moves out of the way.]
Charlie Watkins - Vindicator was playing possum.
Terry Hogan - I don’t know about that; Grinnin just took WAY too much time to attempt that headbutt.
[Vindicator shoots Grinnin into the ropes and hits him with a shoulder tackle. He whips Grinnin into the corner and catches him with a back bodydrop on the way out. He hooks Grinnin into a waist lock and executes a fast German suplex. Grinnin gets up and Vindicator applies a quick T-Bone suplex.]
[Time remaining – 35:00]
Anna Dea - Ladies and gentlemen, at this time, all falls will be counted.
[Michael Cage gets up from his seat at ringside and enters the cage through the door. Vindicator is momentarily distracted and stares down Cage. Grinnin is seen getting up.]
Charlie Watkins - Vindicator better pay attention.
[Grinnin boots Vindicator in the midesection. GOBSMACKER!!! Grinnin makes the pin…1…2…3!]
Anna Dea - The winner of the fall, Grinnin!
Charlie Watkins - And Grinnin scores the first fall!
Terry Hogan - That didn’t take very long.
[Time remaining – 34:12, Score – Grinnin 1, Vindicator 0]
[A chorus of boos is heard as Michael Cage looks quizzically at the crowd, then is heard shouting, "Hey! I’m just doing my job!" Vindicator gets up slowly and Grinnin shoots him into the ropes. Grinnin hits Vindicator with a running clothesline and attempts another pin. This time, Vindicator kicks out at two. Grinnin drags Vindicator to the center of the ring and applies a figure four leg lock.]
Charlie Watkins - Grinnin could pick up a second fall with a submission here.
Terry Hogan - Smart move at this point in the match.
[Vindicator will not tap out, but is obviously in a great deal of pain. His shoulders touch the mat. Cage counts two before Vindicator gets his shoulder up. Vindicator fights his way to the ropes. Grinnin waits until the count of 4 to break the hold.]
[Time remaining – 30:00]
Charlie Watkins - We’re at the halfway point in this tremendous match.
Terry Hogan - And right now, it’s all Grinnin. Vindicator is in a bad way.
[Grinnin slams Vindicator and ascends to the second turnbuckle. He hits Vindicator with a flying leg drop and goes for a pin. Vindicator kicks out at two. Grinnin climbs this time to the top turnbuckle and goes for a big splash. At the last second, Vindicator moves out of the way.]
Charlie Watkins - Vindicator dodges a big bullet there.
Terry Hogan - Grinnin is not having too much success in the air tonight.
[Vindicator pulls Grinnin up and unloads on him with several right hands. He takes Grinnin and smashes his face into the cage repeatedly. Grinnin’s head is bust open from the impact. Vindicator hits Grinnin with a pendulum backbreaker. Vindicator picks Grinnin up and hits him with a pump handle slam. Grinnin is down and out. Vindicator indicates the timekeeper’s table and exits the cage through the door.]
Charlie Watkins - Why is he pointing over here?
Terry Hogan - I don’t know, but he can’t get a fall by exiting the cage.
[Vindicator comes over to the table and reaches underneath. He emerges with his patented crowbar.]
Charlie Watkins - The crowbar! Vindicator has his crowbar!
Terry Hogan - As if Grinnin wasn’t in enough trouble already.
[Vindicator scales the cage and perches on top. Vindicator readies the crowbar as Grinnin slowly gets to his feet.]
Charlie Watkins - Is Vindicator insane? He’s 15 feet in the air!
[Vindicator leaps from the cage and strikes Vindicator in the head with the crowbar. He covers Grinnin…1…2…3!!!]
Anna Dea - The winner of the fall, Vindicator!
Charlie Watkins - And we’re all tied up at one fall apiece.
Terry Hogan - You can see, though, the match is really beginning to take its toll on both men.
[Time remaining – 23:45; Score – Grinnin 1, Vindicator 1]
[Vindicator places Grinnin in a sharpshooter. After several moments, Grinnin gets to the ropes. When Vindicator does not break the hold, Cage forcibly removes him. Vindicator argues with Cage and Grinnin picks up the crowbar. Vindicator spins around and Grinnin nails him in the head with it. Another chorus of boos from the crowd as Cage shrugs. Grinnin uses Vindicator’s head as a battering ram and smashes it into the cage. Vindicator’s head is bust open.]
Charlie Watkins - I don’t know if you can blame Cage for that, but both men are busted open now.
[Time remaining – 20:00]
Terry Hogan - There’s 20 minutes left in the match and we’re still tied at one fall apiece.
[Grinnin applies a reverse chinlock and holds Vindicator down on the canvas. Vindicator finds himself unable to move.]
Terry Hogan - I don’t know if Grinnin should be doing this kind of hold this late in the match. He should try to get a few falls and put this match out of reach.
[Grinnin continues the chinlock, but Vindicator fights to his feet. Vindicator elbows him in the midsection and breaks the hold. Vindicator goes for a crucifix pin, but Grinnin drops him Somoan-style. Grinnin goes for a pin, but only gets two.]
Charlie Watkins - I think he heard you.
Terry Hogan - Maybe, but it could be a moot point. Vindicator looks like he’s out of it.
Charlie Watkins - Fatigue definitely taking its toll on both men, but I’ve got to agree with you that Vindicator is in the worst shape of the two.
[Grinnin ties Vindicator in the Tree of Woe. He delivers several kicks to Vindicator’s midsection, backs up, and charges with a running knee. Vindicator is knocked out of the turnbuckle. Grinnin drops an elbow and goes for a pin. Vindicator kicks out at the very last second.]
[Time remaining – 12:10]
Charlie Watkins - About 12 minutes remaining.
Terry Hogan - It might only be a matter of time right now.
[Grinnin shoots Vindicator into the ropes. Grinnin leapfrogs over Vindicator on the first pass. Vindicator ducks Grinnin’s clothesline on the second pass and hits Grinnin with a flying forearm on the third.]
Charlie Watkins - Where did THAT come from?
Terry Hogan - Vindicator is digging deep to find this energy.
[Vindicator sends Grinnin into the ropes and dropkicks him. Grinnin falls backwards and hits the cage. Vindicator pumps himself up and the crowd responds with fervor. Vindicator applies a waistlock and rolls up Grinnin. Grinnin kicks out at two. Vindicator goes for a small package and gets another two count. Vindicator executes a schoolboy rollup and again gets only two.]
Charlie Watkins - Vindicator coming alive here.
[Time remaining – 9:37]
Terry Hogan - He better keep the momentum going. There’s less than 10 miuntes to go!
[Grinnin scrambles out the door to take a breather. Vindicator follows him out and the chase begins. Grinnin circles the ring and suddenly stops and lowers his head. Vindicator is backdropped onto the announce table, which does not give way.]
Terry Hogan - Look out!
Charlie Watkins - They’re getting too close for comfort here.
Terry Hogan - Cage, do something! Get them back in the ring!
[Grinnin and Vindicator both slowly make their way back into the ring through the door. They trade right hands until Grinnin shoots Vindicator into the ropes. Grinnin and Vindicator clothesline each other and they both go down. Neither one is quick to move. The crowd begins to get to their feet and cheer, rallying behind their respective favorite wrestler, be it Grinnin or Vindicator.]
[Time remaining – 4:56]
Charlie Watkins - We’re just past the 5-minute mark.
[Grinnin begins to stir and climbs the turnbuckle. Vindicator gives him a low blow. Grinnin staggers, but does not fall. Vindicator climbs the turnbuckle under Grinnin and lifts Grinnin onto his shoulders. Vindicator continues to slowly climb the cage with Grinnin on his shoulders.]
Charlie Watkins - What is he thinking?
Terry Hogan - Charlie, you don’t think…
Charlie Watkins - No, it’s too high for that.
[Vindicator sits Grinnin on the corner of the top of the Cage. He climbs the remainder of the distance and stands behind Grinnin. He hooks Grinnin’s arm behind his head.]
Charlie Watkins - No! He won’t do it. These two men are 15 feet in the air!
[Vindicator falls backwards in a reverse superplex position. The two men hit the mat with an awesome impact.]
Charlie Watkins - HARSH JUSTICE! HARSH JUSTICE OFF THE TOP OF THE CAGE!!!
Terry Hogan - Incredible! We’re seeing it all tonight.
[Time remaining – 1:14]
Charlie Watkins - We’re down to one minute and change and we’re still tied.
[Vindicator crawls over and drapes an arm over Grinnin. Michael Cage counts…1…2…3!!!]
Anna Dea - The winner of the fall, Vindicator!!!
[Time remaining – 0:37; Score – Grinnin 1, Vindicator 2]
[Both men are motionless in the middle of the ring. Vindicator begins to stir and rolls over to the corner, where he promptly collapses.]
Charlie Watkins - And Vindicator is wisely going to let the clock run out.
Terry Hogan - I don’t think either of these men wish to continue the match.
[The timekeeper rings the bell and the crowd gives the two men a standing ovation.]
Anna Dea - The winner of this match, by a score of two falls to one, Vindicator!!!]
Charlie Watkins - And Vindicator wins in what has to be considered one of the greatest matches in SWL history!
Terry Hogan - Take nothing away from Grinnin, though. He gave it all but came up just a little short.
Charlie Watkins - Speaking of the Grinman, he doesn't seem to be getting up from that Suplex off the top of the cage. I'm surprised that Vindy got up after that.
(EMT's rush down the aisle with a stretcher and begin to examine Grinnin.)
Terry Hogan - This could be worse than I thought.
[The ring crew begins to disassemble the cage as Grinnin is still being worked on.]
Terry Hogan - I hope Grinnin is okay, it would be horrible if this is anything serious.
Charlie Watkins - I agree, he's done a lot for the SWL... even if it was just stirring up trouble.
(The EMT's finally get Grinnin on the stretcher and rush him up the ramp and into an ambulence.)
Terry Hogan - We wish you well Grinnin, but we must forge on.
Charlie Watkins - Now, ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for our main event. And as main events go, it doesn’t get any bigger than this.
Terry Hogan - That’s right. "The Kid" Billy Rock defends the heavyweight championship against "Mr. Vegas" Johnny Spades in a match that could determine the future of the SWL as we know it.
Charlie Watkins - These two have a long and well-documented history. Let’s show you how they got together.
swlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswl
[Video Montage]
July 9
Brian Williams - These little
tournaments will continue for five weeks, and then we will have a number
one contender for the World Belt. There are a lot of guys who have a chance.
But the question that I would ask any of them, do you have what it takes?
August 13
Watkins - It will be Spades and Arcola in the final for the right to take on the World Champion.
[Johnny Spades uses a legsweep faceslam to bring Justin Arcola down. Johnny Spades goes for a pin. Referee Kevin Mills makes the count. ...1 ...2 ...3]
Anna Dea - The winner of this match and the winner of the Shooting Star Tournament, Johnny Spades!!!
Terry Hogan - And Spades gets his shot at the champion, whomever that may be.
[While Spades is walking back up the aisle, "The Kid" Billy Rock all of a sudden leaps over the guardrail and lands on Spades. He starts driving fist after fist into Johnny's head leaving him lying long enough for Billy to grab a chair, lay it across Johnny's head, and then stomps it as hard as he can.]
Terry Hogan - What are you doing?
(The Kid's chest heaves as he rages toward the announcing table and grabs a microphone. He holds the microphone to his lips as he makes his way back to Spades ... )
The Kid - Is THIS what you couldn't wait for, Johnny?!
(Billy drives his foot down onto the chair placed across Johnny's head again and again and again until a pool of blood begins to spread and Spades' leg develops a twitch ... )
The Kid - Don't kid yourself. You aren't prepared for what you've tempted from me.
The Kid - Everyone peels back the exterior once in a while and unveils a side of themselves that even they're a little bit scared of. It's called a dark side, Spades, and sometimes it's pitch f*cking black.
(Billy stands up and looks down on his victim ... )
The Kid - While you're already
down there, you better say a prayer that you can find your way through
mine.
August 22
(Spades hits Rock with one more
Royal Flush and drapes a Wrecking Crew T-shirt over his face then holds
the World title high as he stands over Billy Rock. Spades drops the title
and rolls out of the ring and points at Rock laying in a heap of blood.)
August 27
Anna Dea - The winner of this match, and new SWL Quasar champion, Ghost From No Where!!!
[Spades lifts his head to see "The Kid" Billy Rock wearing a yellow t-shirt with "SECURITY" written across the chest in bold black, pulling a pair of sunglasses from his eyes and dropping them to the floor. The Kid borrows a chair from the fan next to him and blasts Spades over the head]
Charlie Watkins - Good God! What a collision! A web of blood is coursing down Johnny Spades' face!
[The Ghost From Nowhere is keeping the referee occupied. The Kid climbs over the railing and throws his fist across Spades' jaw. He grabs Spades by the mouth and squeezes it together with his thumb and index finger while shouting to him from inches away]
The Kid - How lucky are ya now, Vegas?!
[Billy jabs the top of the chair into Spades' stomach, then swings the chair sideways, connecting with the side of his head. Spades is slumped against the railing]
Terry Hogan - KID, What have
you done? You can't do that to Spades!
September 3, 2000
The Kid - This meld of leather and gold means more today than throughout the entire history of the SWL! NO ONE has provided for this federation as their champion like I have! I'm climbed through these ropes for the past five weeks and put everyone who stood against me where you are right now! So before you go questioning the value of MY SWL World Heavyweight Title again, just remember the only reason you're still a memory in this business.
[Rock gets up and signals to the crowd, which begins to buzz. He lifts Ghost up into the torture rack and slams him with the Death Valley Driver.]
Charlie Watkins - IT’S KINGDOM COME! IT’S ALL OVER!
[Rock goes for the pin…1…2…BAM!
Out of nowhere, Johnny Spades has appeared and laid waste to Billy Rock
with a steel chair. He picks up Rock, who is stunned, and measures him
with the chair. Spades swings the chair down with all his might on the
point of Rock’s forehead. Rock is bleeding profusely.]
Spades - Billy Rock at the ppv i finally get the chance to whip your overrated @ss. At the ppv finally you will have to stop playing dress up and attacking me from behind. Finally you will have to swallow your fear and meet me face to face in the center of the ring. Paybacks are coming your way Rock, that my friend is a guarantee. You take away my title Billy rock (smiles) so now i'm gonna take yours. I told you i was the man who would knock you off the mountain and you can bet your @ss that the ppv will be the last time World Champion and Billy Rock will be said in the same sentence without the word former in front of it.
The Kid - On September 11th I might wake up to the worst pain of my life. I may not be capable of climbing out of bed all day long. But that'll be okay, because the view from there will be majestic. 'Cause all that means is that all day long I'll get to admire my SWL World Heavyweight Title propped on the mantle where it always is.
swlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswlswl
[Live in the arena]
Charlie Watkins - And that’s what it all boils down to, ladies and gentlemen.
Terry Hogan - Charlie, I
think we’ve said enough. Let’s just get straight to the action.
"The Kid" Billy
Rock vs. "Mr. Vegas" Johnny Spades
SWL Heavyweight
Championship
Anna Dea - Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest, scheduled for one fall, is for the SWL Heavyweight Championship
[Huge crowd pop]
Anna Dea - Coming down the aisle at this time, the challenger, weighing in at 285 pounds, from Las Vegas Nevada a member of Wrecking Crew, "Mr. Vegas" Johnny Spades.
["Show Me What You Got" echoes through the complex bringing the crowd to their feet. The lights dim as purple lights flash and Johnny Spades walks out. Spades looks around at the booing crowd then puts his muscular arms in the air mocking the crowd. Spades stands on the turnbuckle bugging the fans. ]
Charlie Watkins - You are looking at, quite possibly, the next King of the Mountain in the SWL.
Terry Hogan - You’ve got to believe that Johnny Spades is focused entirely on taking that title from The Kid.
Anna Dea - And his opponent…from Little Rock, Arkansas, weighing in at 248 pounds, being accompanied by Bret Real, a member of the Regulators and the SWL Heavyweight Champion, "The Kid" Billy Rock!
[Billy Rock makes his way to the ring along with Bret Real, title strapped over his shoulders. As he approaches the ring, he stops in the aisle and stares a hole through Spades in the ring, who is staring directly back at him. The Kid climbs through the ropes into the ring and places the belt around his waist. He breathes on his hand and polishes the belt with it.]
Charlie Watkins - The Kid not showing any reluctance.
Terry Hogan - At least not on the outside anyway…
[The Kid hands the belt to referee Kevin Mills, who in turn hands it to the timekeeper. He signals for the bell to be rung.]
Charlie Watkins - Here they go!
[The two competitors lock up and Spades easily gets the upper hand. He applies an arm wrench and pounds on Rock’s shoulder. Rock falls to the mat and Spades drives a knee into his back.]
Charlie Watkins - Spades pressing an early advantage.
[Spades pulls Rock up and locks him into an attempted side suplex. Rock breaks the grip and shoots himself into the ropes. Rock attempts a flying body press, but Spades catches him. Spades executes a fallaway slam.]
Terry Hogan - Spades is just too big, too strong.
[Spades drops a leg on Rock and tells the referee to count. Rock kicks out at one with authority. Rock gets back to his feet and holds on to the ropes. Spades charges and Rock backdrops him over the top rope to the outside.]
Charlie Watkins - The momentum just shifted; let’s see if Rock can take advantage.
[Rock climbs to the top turnbuckle and leaps off with a double axehandle to Spades on the floor. He picks up Spades and rams him into the steel steps. Spades staggers around and finds himself near a steel chair. He picks it up and swings it at Rock, but Rock ducks and Spades hits the ring post. Spades drops the chair and Rock DDTs Spades on top of it. Rock rolls Spades into the ring.]
Terry Hogan - Rock did his damage; you’d think he’d be content to just take a countout win here.
[Rock knees Spades in the midsection and comes off the ropes with a swinging neckbreaker. He goes for a pin, but only gets two. He picks up Spades and goes for a suplex, but Spades counters into a small package. Rock kicks out at two. The two men get up and Rock rolls up Spades from behind. Spades kicks out at two. Rock executes a flying tackle and lands on top of Spades. At the two count, Spades bridges up and turns it into a backslide. Rock kicks out at two. The crowd stands and applauds as the two men take a break to regroup.]
Charlie Watkins - Amazing wrestling action from two great competitors.
Terry Hogan - You can punch and kick all you want, but in the end, it all comes down to wrestling ability.
[Rock attempts a body scissors, but Spades plants his feet and Rock falls to the mat. Spades hooks the legs of Rock and grabs Rock’s arms from behind. Spades rolls backwards into a Mexican surfboard.]
Charlie Watkins - Spades with a very painful submission hold.
Terry Hogan - It’s not normally what we see from Mr. Vegas, but he appears to be pulling out all the stops tonight.
[Rock is unable to move, but won’t submit. He shifts his weight just enough so that Spades’ shoulders touch the mat. The referee beings the count and Spades must let go of the hold.]
Charlie Watkins - Billy Rock caught himself a break there.
[Spades picks up Rock and powerslams him. He signals to the crowd and lifts Rock up into the torture rack.]
Charlie Watkins - What is he thinking?
Terry Hogan - You don’t think…
[Spades slams Rock down with a very sloppy looking Death Valley Driver.]
Charlie Watkins - KINGDOM COME! Spades used The Kid’s own finishing move against him!
Terry Hogan - This is great. Can you imagine…not only losing, but beating beat with your own hold?
[Spades pins Rock…1…2…Rock kicks out at the very last second.]
Charlie Watkins - Amazing!
Terry Hogan - How did Rock do that?!
[Spades is in shock as he growls at the ref.]
Charlie Watkins - This match doesn't look like it's over.
[Spades is over arguing with the ref in the corner when Rock runs by Spades, bounces off the rope and spears Spades to the mat.]
Terry Hogan - Don't lose your concentration Spades!
[Rock gets Spades in a figure four.]
Charlie Watkins - Is he going to force him to submit?
[Spades writhes in pain as he reaches for the rope.]
Terry Hogan - C'mon Johnny, you got a couple inches.
Charlie Watkins - Look at Spades' face... it looks as though he thinks he legs are going to be taken from his body.... straining to reach the ropes.
[Spades grabs the rope and Kevin Mills forces Kid to release the hold.]
Terry Hogan - He got it!
[Kid, wasting no time, grabs Spades by the hair and throws him into the corner.]
Charlie Watkins - Spades looks a little dazed, as if things are coming too fast for him now.
[Kid jumps up on the second turnbuckle and starts punching Spades. The crowd reacts by counting them off...1...2...3...4..5..6..7...8...9... on the last one, Rock signals that this match is going to be over as he slams Spades one last time.]
Terry Hogan - Spades is Rock's puppet right now.
[Johnny Spades gets thrown to the mat by Rock. Spades stumbles to the center of the ring. Rock takes his time getting there, grabs him, and throws him against the ropes. On the return, Spades dodges and hits a backwards neckbreaker.]
Charlie Watkins - Where did that come from?
Terry Hogan - Spades still has some gas left in his tank.
[Rock rolls out of the ring to regroup as Spades stands triumphantly in the ring.]
Charlie Watkins - A bit of stalling on both parts. Neither guy wants the other one to take advantage.
[Rock hesitantly gets back on the apron, when Spades runs at him and hits a missile drop kick sending Rock hurtling towards the barracade. The force that the Rock hits the barracade with sends him straight to the ground, clentching his back.]
Terry Hogan - Oh, did poor Billy Rock hurt his back?
[Spades slides out of the ring, grabs Kid, and heaves him back into the ring.]
Terry Hogan - Good move by Spades, he can't win the belt from out there.
[Spades rolls back into the ring and signals for his finisher, the Royal Flush. He sticks Rock's head between his legs and does a cut-throat motion with his thumb.]
Charlie Watkins - Spades is now the one signaling that this is the end.
[Spades attempts to start his finisher, but Rock counters and using all the strength he has left, twists Spades around into a torture rack position.]
Charlie Watkins - KINGDOME COME!!!! Rock reversed a tired Spades' finisher into the Kingdome Come! Incredible!
[Rock goes for the pin. Kevin
Mills counts....1
........2
................3
Charlie Watkins - Rock Reversed the Royal Flush into the torture rack that begins the Kindgome Come. Bad back and all!
Anna Dea - Winner and STILL SWL World Champion.... "The Kid" Billy Rock!
Terry Hogan - I don't believe that.... Spades had it won.
Charlie Watkins - So did Rock numerous times, but all that matters is the last time.
Terry Hogan - I don't know how Spades is going to react to this, but you can be sure that Rock's title is going to be challenged in the near future.
Charlie Watkins - Wouldn't you expect it to be? But this is something we should discuss at Shockwave next week.
Terry Hogan - Fans, don't miss the fallout from Prevailing Justice next week.
Charlie Watkins - But until
then..... has Justice Prevailed here in the SWL? We'll find out next
week. Until then, Keep Reaching For Those Stars!
