Photographs of the genus Carex
		Species within the genus Carex are very difficult to distinguish between before individuals have mature perigynia.  My best guess on the photograph above is plantain-leaved wood sedge (Carex plantaginea), which is an early-blooming plant characteristic of beech/maple forests.
