- Shampoo but skip the conditioner if your hair’s super-fine (it can weigh your ‘do down). Smooth a detangler onto damp strands instead.
- Work a quarter-size dollop of alcohol-free styling gel into hair for mega body.
- Turn your head upside down and blow dry till hair is almost dry. Then flip back over and finish drying.
- For big-start bounce, set hair with medium-size Velcro rollers. Put two on the top of your head (roll ‘em away from your face), then two on each side and in the back (all rolled toward the ears). Blow-dry rollers for three to five minutes, then let cool. Carefully remove the rollers and finger-comb your hair to style.
- Add a rhinestone barrette or a bobby pin to complete this start style.

The hair: stick-straight

- Massage a volumizer into clean, damp strands and comb it through.
- If your hair is naturally straight or wavy, flip your head upside down and blow dry till it’s almost dry. For curly hair, blow dry when strands are still wet, using a round brush. Shadow the brush with the dryer as you pull through each section.
- For even straighter strands, try using a flat iron. Slide the iron over small sections of hair from about three inches below the roots and pull through to the ends. Skip ironing your roots so your hair’s not too flat.
- Apply a little hair serum to the ends of your tresses to smooth hair and lock in shine.


The celeb: Tangi Miller
The hair: softly sexy

- Rub a quarter-size dab of styling gel through clean, damp tresses.
- Create pin curls all over your head–smaller ones near the face and larger ones around the crown–by wrapping damp hair around your fingers (two fingers for small curls and three fingers for larger ones). Clip the loops to your head with pins. If you’re short on time, roll just the top layers of your hair.
- Let your hair air-dry or blow dry on low to fight frizz.
- Finish with a smoothing cream to tame frizz and create super shine.
