Natural-Looking Hair Styles
Hey guys! A reader wanted to know some natural hair styles, so I decided to write this up! One problem - These styles are generally for those with medium-long to long hair, at least 2-3 inches below the shoulders, because I've never had short hair.
Straight Hair: When hair is damp, add in mousse throughout and brush straight. Spray hair with a heat protectant. Allow to air dry, or if you are in a hurry, blow dry it. Wash hair a long time before styling. Allow as much of a span of time before styling. Dirty hair holds best. Clip up all sections except for bottom layer. Clamp a 1/2" barrel curling iron on the bottom of a 1" strand and roll halfway up the strand. Hold for 15 seconds and release. Repeat on bottom layer. Clip that layer together and bring down another layer. Hold the iron up to the root of a strand and curl around iron. Hold for 15 seconds and release. Repeat, clip that layer with the bottom layer, and bring down another one. Repeat with all layers. If your hair tends to not stay, spray overall with a thin mist of finishing spray.
Wavy and Curly Hair:
Add an anti-frizzing serum to damp hair. Diffuse dry, trying to make curls as tight as possible. Use a 1/2" barrel curling iron to touch up on not-so-curled strands by seizing a 1" strand, holding the iron to the root, curling it around the iron for 15 seconds, and then releasing.
Straight Hair: Spray a heat protectant spray on damp strands. Blow dry in a downward motion aiming the blow dryer down with a flat paddle brush. Rub a hair lotion on strands. Use a hair straightener on stubborn strands.
Wavy and Curly Hair: Add an anti-frizzing serum and straightener to damp hair. Blow dry with a flat paddle brush downward aiming the blow dryer down or air dry with large velcro rollers in hair. Clamp a straightening iron down strands.
Blow dry hair while tousling for about a minute without brushing hair. Divide hair into a bottom back section, 2 sides, and a top back section. Clip all up except for the bottom back section. Spray scrunch spray (I use Aussie Sprunch Spray) and scrunch with hands while blow drying. Scrunch up and clip. Bring another section down and repeat for the whole head. Release the bottom back layer and repeat if it needs more scrunching. Alternate with gel, spray gel, and hair spray. Repeat until desired results are reached.
Straight Hair: Add a volumizer to damp hair and blow dry with a round brush, blowing strands in at the end.  Blast with cool air for a few seconds to hold.  Use a 1 1/2" barrel curling iron to curl ends.
Wavy and Curly Hair: Add a anti-frizzing serum to damp hair.  Straighten hair (read above).  Grab a 1 1/2" curling iron to curl ends in.
