A Room with a Mood

Having a mere bedroom seems like such a snooze when you can create an intimate, cozy haven with aromatherapy.  Start with your bed, since this is where you spend one-third of your life (or more if you study, read, and hold phone marathons there).  Add a soothing lavender-spiked scent to your sheets.  Another trick that’ll achieve the same effect: When washing your sheets, add a drop or two of lavender essential oil.  Or treat yourself to a Cuddle Chum–they look like regular stuffed animals, but they’re really lavender-filled, super-relaxing eye pillows.  Next, fill the air with comforting aromas.  Spray an alcohol-free perfume on your light bulb before you turn it on.  The heat will intensify and diffuse the fragrance.  Or start a candle collection that reflects your favorite memories.

Linger at Your Locker

Imagine this: You’re on your way to a mind-bending exam, and you throw open the door.  Instead of the usual funk, an uplifting, brain-stimulating scent wafts your way.  You magically go from freaked to focus and ace your test.  To make this scenario a reality, keep energizing scents (citrus and mint are know as brain stimulants) in your locker.  Even if you’re not stressing about an exam, why not turn your locker into a whiff wonder anyway?  Hang up scented paper cutouts and decorate them with photos of your best buds.

Fragrances That’ll Rev Your Engine

After a long school day and a killer soccer practice, you’re wiped out–and not exactly pumped for the drive home.  Since that synthetic-smellin’ little tree you picked up at the car wash certainly won’t get you going, try these alternatives.  Pick up a mood-boosting essential oil such as ylang-ylang, rosemary, or clove, add it to an Earth Solutions CarScenter, and stick it where the lighter normally goes.  Voilà–instant diffuser.  Or try stringing up the Aveda Air & Body Car Airmobile–infinitely cooler than fuzzy dice.  Spray any of the three included fragrances on the dangly cardboard leaves.  Guzzling caffeine isn’t so healthy, but smelling it is virtually harmless and almost as stimulating.  If the monster munchies always strike when you’re on your way home, foody scents may be your bag.
