Ho-Ball
invented by Jimbo, Aaron, Noah, Don
and others
Hoball is definitely a spectator sport. It is so damn funny to watch and listen
to. The game was invented Session 1 of this year, on Kimball 3rd floor. It is another
phenomenon that is impossible to describe. Check out the rules, a diagram of the court,
and photos of the game below.

- The ball:
should be made of plastic, and inflated
should be lightweight
should be between the size of a softball and a soccer ball
should bounce smoothly and easily
- The shaft:
is preferably a lacrosse stick
in absence the closest thing available should be used
- The basket:
must be a laundry basket
must have a hole cut out in the bottom of it
the hole should be slightly bigger than the ball, and should be irregularly cut
having the ball go into the basket should not guarantee that it goes through the hole
must have a crease around it, of approximately three foot diameter
Players:
- The game is played with two teams of three people each, plus one neutral
person who acts as the ho
- The players:
engage in full contact during the game
may not step in the crease
- the Ho:
is always on the side of the offensive team
is free from all physical contact
must remain in the ho zone
Gameplay:
the offensive team may do whatever is necessary to get the ball in the hole,
provided that they do not violate any of the above or following rules:
- When the ho gets the ball, he must bounce the ball four times before taking a shot.
- If the ho takes a shot, it may not be blocked by any defensive player BUT
- A player can pick up the shaft from its storage location and use it to block the ho's
shot; this is known as shafting the ho
- Shots of players besides the ho may not be blocked by the shaft
- If a player holds his hand against the wall, other players may not knock through it as
would otherwise be allowed by the full contact rules
- While moving with the ball players must hop on one foot
- Failure to adhere to a rule will result in a foul shot - before a player takes a foul
shot, he must close his eyes and turn in a full circle
- The penalty box is only used for Egge
