Portrait of a Hero

The man pictured above is my grandfather. In my eyes he was truly a hero. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was the symbol of unconditional love in my life. He was my father figure when I didn't have one. My best friend when the world seemed to walk out on me. He was always the one to understand and care. This is probably why he touched the lives of probably over a million people in his short life. He was a church-going man in his younger years, a faithful servant to the Lord. Then later, he became a faithful servant to the Masonic organization. Always willing to lend a helping hand. When he graced you with his glowing smile, the sparkle in his eyes was enough to make tears fall from yours. His seemed like a superhero to all in his life. As if mortality wasn't a word in his vocabulary. Until the day we meet again . . .
Rest In Peace.

The End
Written by: Anna

Time was short
Life seemed so long
You thought you were immortal
But you were wrong

Yours was the greatest love I'd known
From the time I was small until I was grown
To hear your voice and the sound of your words
Was as heavenly as the singing of the birds

This went on for a while
But you became rather docile . . .

One day I came to see you
You weren't doing so well
Suddenly my heaven turned into hell
My perfect family, all in a day
Quickly vanished. It all faded away.

One night I said goodbye
Not even wanting to cry
For I had the faih
That you would pull through

You became silent
I was frightned,
My faith was growing dim
Life felt like a sin.

"No news is good news"-the old cliché
"No news is bad news" is what danced in my head
I soon found my fate, it was too late
I would never speak to you again

With your last heart beat and your final breath
I knew it had come
My enemy-Your death

No one can hold your title
And mean it so true
You were my Grandpa
and I loved you.

Go Rest High On That Mountain

I know your life
On earth was troubled
And only you could know the pain
You weren't afraid to face the devil
You were no stranger to the rain

Go rest high on that mountain
Son, your work on earth is done
Go to heaven a shoutin'
Love for the Father and Son

Oh, how we cried the day you left us
We gathered 'round your grave to grieve
I wish I could see the angels faces
When they hear your sweet voice sing

Go rest high on that mountain
Son, your work on earth is done
Go to heaven a shoutin'
Love for the Father and the Son
