*Red Fate*

I am going to Heaven on a stairway to Hell.
When I shall arrive there I can not tell.
My faith is put through a severe test.
They want to know if I will fail just like the rest.
I pass a pair of iron-clad gates
Where the devil sits and waits
A demon slave grabs my arm
and leads me to the unknown harm
He finally stops for a rest and leaves me to walk alone
He says across the caustic flames I'll find a place for home.
I go ahead and cross the lake where flames are dancing high,
I'm not sure I'll make it there before my body dies.
Great serpants jump from waves so red
As lava makes threats to burn my head.
But I keep on the straight and narrow
And try to dodge the flying arrow.
Bats so black fly all around
I scream, but yet I hear no sound.
The end is near, I see the light.
I've never appreciated a sense more than sight.
The bridge is ending, short of the ledge.
I wouldn't make it through, they pledged.
