Greek art and architecture is the product of Greece and the Greek colonies from about 1100BC to the first century BC. Greek art has it's own unique qualities and these unique qualities have become one of the strongest influences on Western art. It is characterized by the representation of living beings. It's primary subject matter is the human figure....wich takes different forms the divine,monsters, animals and plants are secondary. The major themes found in Greek art are myths,liturature and daily life.
Few undamaged originals of Greek Architecture or large sculptures remain and no Greek paintings have survived. However, an abundance of pottery vases, coins, jewelry and gems have survived!
In about 320 BC Greek architects usually worked in marble or limestone, using wood or tile for roofs. Sculptors carved marble and limestone, modeled clay and cast works in bronze.Greek painters used water colours to paint large murals or decorations on vases.
