Well folks here we are, the last paramedic class to graduate in South Carolina this century, for that matter, this millenium. Kinda scary huh? Anyway here is the class roster, starting from the left front: Instructor Rusty Hollingsworth, Perry Granat, Allison Tinnell, Christy Carter, Dennis Pavone, Kathy Link, John Gill, Vernon Edenfield, Monice Cozart, Bob Payne, Colleen Oliver. 2nd row (from the right) Gary Taylor, Michael Cohen, Mark Smith, Danny Fogle, Robert Holt, Doug Byrd (me), Chuck Cothran, Dwight Charleston, Jeff Knieling, Earle Miller, and Norman Morris. Not Pictured, Christina Ward, and instructor, Chief John Oram

Well, this is me, Doug aka "DirtyByrd", this pic was taken about 2 weeks after i got hired by Hilton Head Island Fire and Rescue (more info on the department soon). I'm a 26 year old firefighter/emt-i (soon to be paragod type). I also dabble in HAZ-MAT, fire investigation, USAR, and other types of rescue. I've been in the fire servive for about 12 years (yes i started when i was 15...as a vollie) and the EMS and rescue side for about 6 years now. We don't see much fire on Hilton Head, but we run about 5000 medical calls a year, keeping us relatively busy.

Here's a great shot of my friend Scott (left), myself (center) and my best friend Tommy (right) in Savannah on St. Patrick's Day 1998. We were a little worse for wear in this one, but we had a great time that day.
