Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

Released in 1967 by Parlophone Records in Britain and Capitol Records in the U.S., "Sgt. Pepper" was the first Beatles album to be distributed worldwide in universal context. It took over 700 hours and $75,000 to produce.

The album was originally titled "DR. Pepper's...", but was changed when it was discovered that the name was already used for an American soft drink. Despite protests by Brian Epstein, the band's manager, the album was the first ever to include song lyrics.

"Sgt. Pepper" won four Grammys, and even today is considered a 'Masterpiece' against which all rock music is compared.
