The White Album

The White Album

Although the official title of this album is "The Beatles", it is universally known as "The White Album". Released in 1968, it is the first album released by Apple Records, as well as The Beatles' first double album.

Most of the songs on the album were written while the Beatles were studying meditation in India; there was little collaboration by the group on any of the songs, which is evident in the distinctly diverse styles of music throughout the album.

The plain white cover of the album was purposely chosen to contrast with the colorful, splashy cover of "Sgt. Pepper", which was released the previous year.
