This beautiful black lighthouse was built in 1984. It is 21 feet tall, which is short for a lighthouse.
It was originally built at the end of a breakwater, and until 1921 it was known as the Bridgeport Breakwater Light.
It was in 1921 that the breakwater moved, and this lighthouse was moved to what is commonly called Tongue Point. (less commonly Wells Point)
Currently this lighthouse is not open to the public, but can be viewed from the Port Jefferson Ferry as well as many other beautiful lighthouses.
